The DS-X is a piece of crap, terrible support team and waaay too expensive. Trust me, I have one... Get a CycloDS Evolution instead. If not, get an R4 DS. Defiantly not and M3 though.

I won't get a cyclo. I don't want DOA feature for my cart. Too pricey. I already got an Acekard RPG from bamboo gaming though!

I have both CycloDS and M3DS Real. The main differences are that the M3 CAN play GBA games and the CycloDS can't, but the M3's GUI is very ugly and laggy, games take time to load, and the CycloDS offers greater compability (Wii-DS, Download Play, etc).

That made me shudder.

Since I don't have any of the carts, I actually think that they're both good, and it just depends on what features you want for your DS. I'm getting an M3 Real in the new year, and a Cyclo after that (for my first backup, R4 will be second backup). Whichever one suits your needs, go for that cart.

Actually I got my SCDS1 SDHC in the mail today, and it's pretty pokey compared to the Evolution. It has some nice extra features RTS, multi-save slots, realtime guide, etc. but from the little I've used it and the Evo so far I REALLY prefer the Evolution to the SC...

I never really appreciated the Evo until I had another cart to compare it with...

TC just need to get their shit together with product quality. Current poll on the official forums is running pretty much dead on 33% no matter how many people are voting...

Now I'm going to make some pros/cons about some of the popular flash carts out there. I don't want people to get angry at all.
I don't want any flamer in here. I'm not downing any of the carts, just stating some keys points about them.


1 - The DS-X is really over priced and there hasn't been an update for months. Sure it's a great cart, but the price is a killer. Compatibility is great and homebrew support is good as well.

$100-$150 USD

2 - The R4DS/M3DSS is probably the best solution at an affordable price. Great support and regular updates. The spring tends to break though.

$30-$30 USD

3 - CycloDS EVO is the most feature rich cart out there and support is the absolute best. Updates usually come out every few weeks and support answers you almost immediately. The price to me is a bit steep at $60 USD. Chip under it's sticker makes it a little hard to remove from the NDS.

4 - M3DSR is a contender for the CycloDS EVO since it has the same futures and even has a GBA/Rumble packs included for the same price of a CycloDS EVO. Is kinds hard to remove from the NDS cause there is a chip under it's sticker.

In the end it is really just your decision. Whatever choice you make is a good one and isn't wrong. Mostly it's the price that catches my eye.

This is not true. ATM Supercard DS One series FAR surpasses the Evolution in "features", although many of the features are slated for eventual inclusion in firmware updates for the Evolution.

This price is a little high, as they'll only be in the $55-60 range IF you get the perfect combo(rumble, ram, AND GBA pack) and also order it from a US store. Dealextreme is cheaper for the combos that they do have and the card alone is in the low $30s.

Also there is the TopToy DS, which is now $24.95(dealextreme, only place that has them ATM AFAIK) alone which is reportedly a decent card whose software is still a little rough around the edges ATM. I'd probably only try one at this point if I already had another working card and wanted an upgrade as they haven't been around long enough to see alot of information on these... but at $25...
