It should be able to work. Make sure you patch it with the right DLDI file (use DLDIrc to do this, which is the easiest method of doing so).
Install it and choose the MMD option when available. Then right-click Lameboy.nds and choose the new patching option that appears. Simple as that.
Note that if you have the Max Media Player with the built-in 4 GB "hard drive" then you'll want the MMP-specific DLDI file, not the MMD one.

Try launching it from DSOrganize, or copying everything off your card and reformatting. Otherwise search around the Datel section of the Maxconsole forums as they might have an answer.
