I can’t believe know one has released a thread on your own Switch 2 Virtual Games Catalogue list yet so I thought I would start one.

I’ve added the whole list they are all digital apart from Mario 3D All Stars that’s physical but that’s how I prefer them. I’m also lovin the Switch 1 titles with the new updates they are looking and playing fantastic, it actually gets you bringing some of those older titles out and playing them again

Everyone join in with their pictures 🫶🏻

The games I play on NS2 are NS1 game carts no way I'll spend money on digital games which are essentially just a rental.
I bet that my digital games will outlive your physical games.

Heck, you can still download your WiiWare games officially from Nintendo. There is no precedent of Nintendo not allowing you to download your digital games.

Your "digital" games are purely rentals which you have to rely on the servers being active, if they're dead, "your" games are gone.

NES cartridges are still going strong and they're well over 40 years old, no reason why NS1 cartridges won't.

And my point is... You are assuming the servers are going to be inactive. You are assuming Nintendo's servers (or Sony, Microsoft, Valve) are going to be inactive in your lifetime, when there's no precedent of it happening.

Those companies (the main gaming companies in the world) never have had their servers close.

This just isn't an argument you're going to win. I remember Epic saying games are kept forever, and not long ago I received an email about them saying they were removing a game from their store.

Digital games are purely a rental. End of story.

Yes, games get removed from stores (delisted), but you can always download them, as long as you have purchased it before. This is no different than a physical games not getting restocks.

Physical games wil fail eventually. Discs will rot, cartridges will fail (circuitry). They can be stolen, damaged, they take space.

This is making me sad realizing that excluding DLC I have like.... 5 virtual game cards. Even though the system has just under 200 games on it.

Hardware fails the same way too. Everything does eventually. Both mediums have their faults I'm afraid. Though really I don't consider it much of a concern when we'd be able to dump content way before that would happen. Hell we can dump physical Switch 2 carts in an encrypted form if we wanted.

Dont ever be sad.. be happy and appreciate what you have to play, even though those 5 are digital, really :) you’re going to have to be proud of all those physicals which is a huge collection by the way. I must admit when the switch 1 was first released I bought all physicals but with the switch games second hand market and all the banning going on with people dumping their new games and there certificates and selling them on straight away I then decided to start buying all digital

I don’t think we are ever going to have to worry about that day coming. Say you’re right and digital games on all console formats became none accessible there would be a serious issue with the companies and we are talking about Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony three of the biggest companies in the world..they would see some serious litigation on there hands in that case. If digital games never downloaded your physicals would stop working as well because everytime you boot a game up it runs through checks. You can even think of a physical cartridge just being the digital software put on a basic sd card but all wrapped up in a fancy case, if you lost or broke that physical copy you would no longer have it and no backup a digital copy is very similar in ways just the same downloaded and saved on an sd card, if you lost or broke the sd card you would no longer have it but at least buying digital you can always buy another sd card and redownload the game I think we can safely say the Digital option is the best option and in the near future it’s going to end up being the only option and also the big three companies Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony are going to want to push digital completely because it will stop piracy

Just a heads up for Resident Evil Requiem, if you’re going to buy the game I suggest grab the Generation Bundle instead I know it’s an extra £20.00 I say this because Nintendo are cancelling the Resident Evil Generation Bundle at the end of March 2026 both Digital and Physical versions so if you suddenly decide I want Resident Evil Village after March you will have to pay the full price and that’s the same for Resident Evil 7 that’s a massive saving
