Gaming Shovelware

I predict the hole to be deep from which the shovelware arises.

I don't understand why developers even bother if they're not going to put in some effort to make a good game.

In all seriousness and fairness, these past generation consoles and handhelds (not just Nintendo) have had some launch titles that were at least decent, combined with a bunch of titles most people don't care about (shovelware). 3DS may be the first with this next generation, but it doesn't mean it will be the only one to be doing it.

Bring back the seal of approval!!! Every game must be quality controlled to the max, if it's crap, it should never be allowed.

Nintendo say releasing cheap ipod style apps for $0.99 would be bad news for their 'proper' developers, then they allow crap like this, which gives the whole console a bad name. If all I see on the 3DS is the same regurgitate nonsense that was released on the DS over the past couple of years then I'm going to start doing 'angry gamer' youtube rants!!!!11111

Pretty much every game has the Nintendo "Seal of Quality" or whatever, it just doesn't mean shit. I didn't even notice it until someone pointed it out here a year or so ago.

With a typical shovelware's tiny development budget, a publisher doesn't have to sell many games to make a profit at a $40 price point. Sad but true.
