So, I have had Symentec Network AntiVirus since about 2005 or so. I haven't gotten anything since then XD. I got this from my brothers friends whose friend stole it from the college that he works at.

I'm thinking its out of date by now and upgrading to:

AVG Free (For now, maybe when I get money I'll buy it)
Windows Defender

Should that be good, because I think our AntiVirus is really out of date.

I would trust more in Hadrian's knowledge about leprechauns than Norton, really Norton is so bad is not even funny. I use Avast and it has saved me from some nasty trojans from certain programs that I errr... acquired. I also heard great things about AVG, you can't go wrong with either.

Alright, I upgraded to AVG Free Edition 8.0, and ZoneAlarm Firewall.

I have used both before and they are pretty good so I figured I would go back to them.

good choice

been using both for years

as an additional protection install Spybot Search & Destroy and Spyware Terminator 2 and maby Adaware and update everything you use regular and before you scan ......

I have my Avg set to update daily!

and scan about once a week with Spybot and Spyware Terminator 2 to check and double check

better safe than sorry ...

I've tried nearly all antivirus programs out there and always end up back with AVG as its reliable for me!

NOD32 I found to be way to jumpy with false positives and even saying legit xp system files were trojans on scanning with others and even sending the file to online scanning it came back as negative!

Yeah I have Spybot I just always forget to run a search. I think the last one was back in November or something XD. Maybe I just run one right now while Im thinking about it.

I've just bought the Avira Premium Suite based on it's excellent detection percentages and great reviews. Scans are much faster than AVG Pro 8.0 too (what i was using previously).

Unfortunately, AVG's detection rate has been dropping for a little while. But anythings better than norton lol. Try Avira Anti Virus, the free version only has an ad when updating, not bad at all.

But common sense people, its the best anti virus you can have. Oh and no IE

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, it has everything I need for protection, and I set almost everything to MAX, nothing can go wrong now

NOD and Avira is too paranoid IMO, they detect virus in a clean file... wonder why?

If your gonna buy any anti virus in the future though go for KAV 09, its well worth it. Anyway AVG Free and zonealarm should be sufficient for the average person.

Funny, back then some guys advertise Symantec Anti-Virus to me. They rented a booth in a mall. I was thinking to get an honest Anti-Virus (not the *cough*warez*cough* I use now, ssshhhh), but really. Symantec didn't pique my interest

I had to add a few exceptions (to avira), as its very nagging at detecting 'evoOptions' and any keygens, or anything wares/scene related. Its very good at its job,
just a little TOO good lol.
So, avira is good for those who dont mind getting false alarms I guess

The problem with antivirus is that people PAY for it. Download avast! Antivirus (free edition) and PC Tools Firewall Plus. I've never gotten a virus since I got those two. However, the pair have blocked many a virus from attacking me.
