Hello guys !

i want to install Atmosphère on my switch which runs ofw 5.1.0. old unit.
is there any good reason to update the ofw before installing cfw? maybe to play newer games for example? will it just cause more problems?

I see only one good reason, and that would be to create an account on the eShop for games that are nitpicky about it. Besides that, not really necessary. You can install autoRCM to prevent fuses burning and install CFW and update sysnand, or if you want to play online you'd use an emuNAND for CFW, and update sysNAND normally. It really depends on what you want to do with the console.

i dont care about online play. lets say i install the cfw right now. i create an emuNAND. is there a way to keep my sysNAND clean and just update the emuNAND to the latest fw somehow ? what are the benefits to stay on older fw?

I’ve the same question, but my ns is on 9.xx now. That button remap control works good?

In your situation (being on recent firmware already), if you never hacked the Switch before, just go ahead and update it. Then go in airplane mode, inject the Hekate payload and make your NAND backup. After that, make your emuNAND, which you'll use for CFW stuff, and your sysNAND, which is clean, can be used for online like playing on Nintendo's server or visiting the eShop, if this is what you want.

Thanks, I’ll give a try.
