I have a lot of 3DS, I love this console, love in a irrational way, so I'll always recommend. My favorite colors are the new 3DS XL SNES edition and the metalic blue release model.

the new 2DS XL is the better for actually play in my opinion.

+1 for that. Go for the best deal. The color and appearance you can change later buying replacement shells on internet.

Also, you still can find brand new 3DS if you know how to buy on Japanese stores.

They're American. Importing a 3DS overseas would be a lot more expensive.

I really recommend the Galaxy New 3DSXL.
It's a really great color purple outside and a dark blue inside.
Definitely get XL model; I don't recommend cheaping-out for 2DS.
Some 3D games are worthwhile and it does add value to many 3DS games.

I have the Galaxy N3DSXL and actually think it's kinda fugly. Good thing I don't have to look at the outside when I'm playing.

Absolutely! The 3DS is by far one of the best systems not only for hacking but for gaming. You not only get every 3DS game but also every single Nintendo handheld before it and even more shit to play with like the PSX. In my humble but correct opinion, the 3DS is one of the best Nintendo handheld by far.

It depends really, New 3DS is what you want as it can handel PSX and N64. The older models dont have enought OMPH for for said counsels.

So if im not wrong, a old 3DS can handel NES/GB/GBC/GEN/SNES/DS/3DS well, PSX CAN SOMEWHAT RUN with the sound turned off and GBA injects for some games.

New 3DS can do the same as the Old 3DS and some more. PSX and N64 runs at full speed on here (Kinda). You also get accsess to mGBA, a better emuluator than injects as well as the New 3DS only games.

Overall it just depends on what poison you want.

The 3ds does have a great library, if you like games like Zelda, Pokemon, Mario, go for it if you can find it in a decent price.

In answer to the question. If there are games you want to play on it, then yes. There is a pretty huge library of good games. But if you're just a bit above broke, perhaps those funds would be better used elsewhere.
