Nanostray 2 should be out, soon, too: http://www.nanostray2.com
Weird, I can't think of any other good DS shmups. Not even homebrew ones! There are quite a few experimental homebrew efforts but not really anything that's fun to play for a longer while. At the moment you should probably look into GBA games if you need more...

Raid over the River doesn't look all that good to me. Plus the studio that's making it has never released a game before, and there's some doubt as to whether Sadness/RotR are merely hoaxes.

Nanostray is literally the only shoot em up on the system. GBA has a few, but they're mostly ports or average to poor original games.

It is pretty certain that they are not hoaxes. However, we do really have no indication of the quality...
I didn't like Nanostray but I'm waiting for Nanostray 2. The screenshots look very promising!

    Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
