Gaming Shin Megami Tensei - General Discussion

Alright,the game is out for a few days and i got my hands and got 15min of gameplays into it.

Making your DS into an In-game device, checked, i always loved function like that.

Awesome matrix styled system booting? Check. It was cool as hell.

And the storyline?

"Survive"

"Seven Day"

"Change the ending"

Now where have i heard them before...

Ah yes.

The World Ends With You.


Heres a little comparison:

Oh come on, just LOOK at the artwork and characters.

The game takes place in a fictional version of the Shibuya shopping district in Tokyo, Japan.

Tokyo has been sealed by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force due to a demon outbreak, and it will be seven days before the whole capital is wiped out. (Game starts in Shibuya 901)

A spin off from the Shin Megami Tensei series that is set in modern day Tokyo and you summon monsters to prevent the world from going tits up and you got to do this all within seven days...mmm sounds familar.

Well, the developers claimed its more of TWEWY being innovated by the Shin Megami Tensei series than the other way round.

My only trouble with this game? The demon sucks. why cant they be TWEWY styled?

Huh I guess it does remind me of TWEWY ... then again I only played to day 1. No touchscreen, not dual screen fighting, jrpg styled, and that's some differences.

The only thing holding me back thou, is the graphics. the sprites sucked. The monster are designed by kids which ... stereotypes much?

This game is quite tough pitting you early in the game against a LV19 Demon. Anyway, I'm still stuck with only three characters, in most SRPGs I should have 4-6 by now which makes the game at least in the early part extremely difficult.

May i just say im actually impressed with the story/plot on this. there is very VERY few DS games with genuinly interesting story and plots and this is one of them but yeah so far enjoying this altho iv never been a fan of the whole dragon quest style attacking system but yeah oh and its got a pretty good soundtrack too!!

This game is awesome : ). I was more of a fan of the Persona Series, but this one of Shin Megami's is awesome haha

And you get demon fusion near the end of day 1 when you beat wendigo.
