Android Set Proxy Per Application

How could I set a proxy for individual applications on android?

No idea if there is the option beyond what a dev might have given for an individual program. Equally I assume router level stuff is not an option (add a redirect for a site to a proxy on your local network that then works however you want it to)

Is there a sandbox you can abuse?

I can use root for iptables if needed, or other methods.
