Why Are Most Sequels Not That Good? Just look, almost everytime, the 2nd game in a trilogy is the worst, just like in real life, mostly, the second album of a band, musician, etc. the worst in all of their album? So can anybody enlighten me as to why almost all the 2nd games, sequel, are not that good? i would appreciate the enlightment!! HAHAHA! lol

It's because you expect it too be 2x as good as the first... there are exeptions though, if the content the sequel gets is online mode etc.

It's hard to replicate the awesomeness of a game. New features can help a lot, but new features can also ruin the spirit of the game.

There are some exceptions though, some sequels are actually BETTER than the original.

In television, we have a thing about "the difficult 3rd series" ... most actors and writers, if they can, will avoid doing a 3rd series, if they can help it.

It's either the last good series for a particular show, or the first crap one lol

There are many games which sequels were much better.

It's not a general rule, also sequels have a tendency to not be as good because they are no longer fresh and the magic of playing it for the first time is gone, nostalgia plays a big factor.

But like I said, many games like for example Half Life 2 were much better than the first game for example, Call of Duty 4 was better than all other previous games, Super Mario Bros. 3 was a LOT better than SMB1 and SMB2, etc, etc, etc

I think a lot of sequels suck because the creators are experimenting with the original game and tweaking it and hoping it will be better. Thats why smb3 was awesome but smb2 sucked.

I thought half-life 2 was a great sequel, but i have to agree that most 2nd sequels aren't as good as the 1st and maby the 3rd.

I hope you aren't referencing the US version of Super Mario Bros. 2. The JAP version was excellence.

Probably won't. Itagaki knows how to make good games, and he never screwed up yet.

Yarp, the lost levels were Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan. They thought it would be too hard for us Americans so they released some other game that Miyamoto worked on. But you already knew that, right?

Most games following a sequel are usually better than the sequel itself. (Example: Phoenix Wright)

That is strange since the 3rd season is usually never as good as the first in some of the series I watch.
Even if it keeps up the same formula as the other two, I find it lacking sometimes....

Yeah,the 2nd game in the series is most of the time bad.
Fortunately,the 3rd game is usually the best in the series.
