SEGA sues Level-5

Sega sues developer Level-5 because of the usage of a controlling option used in the Inazuma Eleven-games for the Nintendo (3)DS.

The way football players in the Inazuma Eleven-games are controlled with the finger or stylus on the Nintendo (3)DS is claimed to look like something SEGA patented. SEGA demands that the eight games in the Inazuma Eleven series won't be sold anymore and that Level-5 pays around 10 million dollars as compensation.

Level-5 is planning to assail the indictment, but doesn't want to respond. The studio is not just responsible for the Inazuma Eleven-games but also for the Proffesor Layton titles and the upcoming RPG Ni No Kuni.

If Sega wins that, ID software should sue any FPS that came after Wolf 3D and Zynga should be sued for every single line on code of every single game that they already made.

It's not clear. What does it mean by 'something that SEGA patented'. A previous game or what?
