Sega Mega Drive authenticity question

Hi

Found this listing in my local city for fair price (been watching it for month and seller finally dropped price)

does this look authentic? I think it does, but cant find lot of picture reference for European version so would love to hear what people have to say here

I would say it's a fake for one reason. At the top of the cartridge port your picture has writing that says High Definition Graphics/Stereo sound. I have never seen an original European Megadrive with that written on it.

It's likely real. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are possibly the early models with the EXT port on the back. Same text can be seen for European models, too.

One on this picture is Genesis, the US version, but then again I found that some genesis have that written and some don't, so not sure anymore

I found some additional photos of the model that you've shown which someone on Reddit posted.

The serial number is the lowest and the model was made in China. Model number "1600-20" is a Netherlands model of the Mega Drive with a VA4 motherboard.

It is real. Had almost every revision and this is just a very common european one. Be aware that without mod it only runs in 50Hz PAL.

Yeah my mega drive had that on it and it was purchased 2nd hand in 1992 from a friend who I believe his parents bought from Argos or a similar uk high street store at the time.

Wish i still had it. Is that my old one?? I miss it...
