Homebrew Sega CD?

Is there any way to play Sonic CD on a Cyclo DS Evolution? I have a Mega Drive emulator at the moment, but I don't know if it's compatable with Sega CD games. Are there any that can use SCD games?

No, there is no SegaCD emu for the DS. It would likely be too much for the DS to handle since the CD unit had its own processors too.

The Sonic CD file is in .bin format, same as all my other Mega Drive files, only much bigger. I might give it a shot on my current emulator but I don't expect any joy out of this project.

That's silly, "bin" is just "binary", it doesn't mean the ROMs are compatible. A lot of things are binaries, like ROMs for a bunch of systems. Sega CD ISOs just won't run on a Genesis emulator. The one exception to this is that a while ago there was a hack of Sonic CD which took the first stage and hacked it to run on a stock Genesis, this ROM would run on jEnesisDS, but it's not something that is going to happen for other ROMs or which is going to be "finished", as it was just a proof of concept.

Kind of Random, but a famous Sonic game hacker by the name of Stealth made a hack to port a concept level of Sonic CD to the regular Genesis. It's only the first stage, with only one time zone, and no music. But the graphics, sound effects, and level design of Palmtree Panic present Act 1 is fully intact. It was pretty amazing actually. He did it for Sonic Retro (a Sonic community). I can't link you to the rom since it's illegal (and I don't know if it works anymore anyways) so I'm sorry. If you search, the site though you may find out where to get it.

Anyways, it was just a concept hack he released with his OTHER concept port of the original Sonic 1 to GBA. It was pretty cool for a concept though. Shame he never followed up on it as it would have been neat to have Sonic CD for the regular Genesis.
