don't know if there's a list... but I think i saw a wiki long time ago....
Mostly old titles like red Steele or Armageddon need to be patched to IOS249, if they should be run from a BUL.

Maybe the USB Loader can nowadays play those games, if the IOS isn't patched. I've never tested, nor I find any Info on this.

It would be nice if someone could test some of those games.. i would do it myself if i knew it the "originial" ios for games like RED STEEL or MOHAA 2...
any volunteers ? or any info about the original IOs ??
cheers!

I interpret that as "better compatibility with detecting USB drives." The issue you're referring to has to do with the hard drive spindown. If you're having that issue, search for an existing topic on spindown and ask for help.

Why do i have to say it 100 times? The games that need the patching for disc based backup launching don't work in the usb loaders. Until this is changed if you patch a game to use another IOS or not doesn't change the compatibility at all.

Here's a incomplete and maybe partly incorrect list of games that require the patching for disc based backup launching:

So they don't work because of that patching right?
What if you take the original ISO (that would work on a hardmodded wii), would that work?

Army Men: Soldiers of Misfortune (maybe doesn't need the patching, 1 confirmation)
Boogie (not Boogie Superstar which doesn't need this)
Call of Duty 3
Far Cry Vengeance
FIFA 08
House of the Dead 2
Madden '07
Madden '08
Medal of Honor Heroes 2
Metal Slug Anthology
Metroid Prime 1 (3 doesn't need this!)
Mortal Kombat Armageddon
NBA Live '08
Obscure: The Aftermath (1 confirmation)
Pangya Golf With Style
Red Steel
Sam & Max Season 1
Splinter Cell Double Agent
SSX Blur
Super Swing Golf

But the new modes in GeckoOS would fix this right (i haven´t tried the new one) !?
And yes i know there is no source released

i'm not sure if all the games of that list are unplayable with IOS PATCHING.... i have a softmodded wii, and backup launcher 0.3g runs without any problem games like RED STEEL, METROID 1, MOHAA 2 etc... the deal is to know if with the original IOS all games would play with USB LOADER....

First: RedSteel and Co. won't work without patching to IOS249 in Gamma/SoftChip. No way around this, I think. So I don't think that the games would play with the original IOS... we would need to make the origial IOS to cIOS, then they will work probably. Again, I'm not shure if this is right, but as far as I got it, the IOS must have the rev10 DIP in it, with USB-Support and if the game now uses the patched ©IOS it should work...but definitely not with an unmodified IOS, I think. Because the original IOS don't know what to make with the USB-Ports...

(Chances that I'm wrong, or understood something wrong are high...)

Well, it make sense what u just said... it would be nice if Wani could just say what is the "bug" that prevents the games that previously worked on Disc based loaders from running on USB Loader.... but nevertheless WANI is doing a great job

I redownloaded my copy of Mortal Kombat Amageddon and didtn patch it to 249 and still doesnt work..

Unless the copy i d-loaded already was patched. I would dump my disk but its got a cleat print on it.

You can take the Far Cry off the list, I backed up my original and it plays just fine off the HDD.

I explained why it's like this several times and i'm not going to repeat it again and again.

Some more details about Red Steel:
The game normally requests IOS9, interesting are the different test results:

for modchip users:
If the game is not patched, it only works in the disc channel or with the Gecko OS rebooter. If you patch it to IOS30 or IOS36, it works with SoftChip and Gecko OS too.

for softmodders:
The unpatched copy only works if you have cioscorp installed, and then it works from the disc channel, the Gamma rebooter and SoftChip. If you patch the game to IOS249 it works with the Gamma rebooter and with SoftChip. If it works in Gamma too, i don't know.

PS: It's possible that the 1st compatible SoftChip revision is R89.

No.
"the wii restarts after completing the first level during the "plane flight away from the island movie cut scene"

Actually i think the game has the same compatibility as Sam & Max Season 1: Doesn't work in ANY loader, disc or usb doesn't matter.

I interpret that as "better compatibility with detecting USB drives." The issue you're referring to has to do with the hard drive spindown. If you're having that issue, search for an existing topic on spindown and ask for help.

yeah i know about the spindown but i have an enclosure (Cheap One) and a maxtor 120gb inside... and im not sure if i have to configure the enclosure or the drive...

Wiipower, Red Steel works flawless in GAMMA if patched to IOS 249...

i'd probably make the jump to 1.5 if i knew what was going on with cIOS_r10... i'm still on USB loader 1.1 XD

i've heard alot of people complaining about issues that it's created with the loaders and such, i also heard someone couldnt put cIOS_r9 back on so they were stuck until r11 is released lol

could someone assure me about the issues that r10 can present?

the drive, if you know about the issue then you should know the software for seagate and maxtor drives... go to the seagate site (connect your drive to a pc without the usb casing)

Seems that this new update really did increase HDD compatibility... somewhat. I have a WD My Book Home edition 320GB HDD that was never able to be found by any loader, now the loader can find it, yet when I try to make a partion, it gives the -6. I tried to reformat, and also format the drive into WBFS via windows, but it still gives a -6 when trying to partion through the loader. Still, this is a step in the right direction, as I think the next version that increases compatibility will let me access my drive completely.

P.S. the actual error is something along the lines of ret -6 cannot find any partion.

could anyone be so kind to make this into a channel i can install with homebrew? someone did this for 1.4 too, i love it.
