I am using nesDS and have put the rom onto my EZ4 Deluxe using EZ Client, so there is a .sav file with the exact name. And the rom plays and works gine. Im just not sure how to save them, is there a button combination or something that I have to do?

nesDS does not support saving (it loads them from the SRAM if they are present mind), there was a new version made bu another author that does support saving but I will not work with the EZ4. Fortunately the GBA code emulators pocketnes and HVCA are damn good so I suggest using them instead.

For what it is worth street fighter was one of the first GBA ports (alpha 3 and II turbo ported).
There are three SNES emulators for the DS in existance, none will provide you with a flawless experience but they are pretty good:
SNESDS:
The oldest of the lot, port of SNES Advance and sports fair compatibility and speed.

SnezziDS:
Argueably the best of the bunch, port/branch of snezziboy (GBA code SNES emu).

SnesemulDS:
Snesemul is a old PC emu and as this is a port, consequently it has the best compatibility overall but the speed is not very good.

As for saving in emulators/homebrew this thread is worth a read: http://ezflash.sosuke.com/viewtopic.php?t=2801
