so i am not using my swtich for a while and i dont want to keep charging it so whats best way to save battery life?
if i turn it off the battery seems to drain anyway. and its hard to turn back on a hacked switch with 0 battery.

If you completely turn off a Switch, also the modchip should be turned off.
So that should not be draining the battery more than usual.
If you put it in sleep mode, it keeps on using the battery.

I have an unmodded V1 Switch with an original battery and if I don't touch it for 6 weeks, the battery is also empty.
I think this is due to the age of the battery (+5 years).
So the 'official' self drain rate of 3% per month does not apply to very old batteries I think.

My battery charger has a 'long storage' feature for lithium batteries.
This charges up the battery to 70%.
I have never tried to whether that makes a difference with my Switch.

Sounds like something's off with your battery/hardware, I have a switch oled that hasn't been turned on over a year sitting on my shelf and it still has 60% battery left.

Other than keeping it in a dock or charging it regularly, i don't think there's anything else you can do

My V1 drains on its own in less than a week if it's in standby without wi-fi enabled. My OLED drains only around 40%.
