Hacking Save File Won't Work

I kept a save file for Final Fantasy Tactics A2 because I spent over 140 hours on the game and I couldn't bring myself to fully delete it when I was done with the game. I acquired the game again and tried to use the old save file and the game doesn't recognize it. I've tried using the American and European roms and neither work. I've made sure the sav file is the exact same name as the nds file and that didn't work either. I'm using an old SuperCard SD slot-2 card on a DS phat. Can anyone help me?
