Yeah so does anyone know whether US saves are compatible with Europe or Japanese saves? I'm pretty sure they dont but just making sure just in case i want to start FFTA2 early xD.
 
no they dont, since they have different ROM ID

rom id " ####" is just the release number, it has nothing to do with the rom
as long as your save game name and is correct it should work and same game cept for languages =)

lil-devil knows what he is talking about, same name for save and rom and your sweet.
I don't thik enigmaindex is talking about the release number... every ROM has a unique ID, i.e. a serial code. Something like ADZP-EUR. You can easily find it by opening up a *.sav file in a hex editor.

As for the TC's question, SOME games allow for swapping save files. For example, I was playing the EU version of Picross DS and when I loaded the US version, the saves were compatible. However, I tried the same for JP -> US, and it didn't work. My guess is that FFTA2 won't be compatible from JP -> US.
