Homebrew Safe to Update EmuNand?

I just have a quick question, I am using a N3DS with EmuNand 10.5 (SysNand 9.2) using ReiNand 3.3 and am wondering if it would be safe to update my EmuNand to Nintendo's latest firmware via system update? I also use NTR CFW 3.3 so I would hope the update doesn't break that as well

Actually, after having updated, I noticed that I am no longer able to connect to the Internet. I am getting error "003-1101" which states the encryption key may be wrong, problems with the network or environment or incorrect configuration. The Internet worked fine before nintendo released this new update for me on my EmuNand... Any ideas? I can't seem to figure it out...

Edit: and yes I have seen Nintendo's help page regarding this error. I made sure the router settings and N3DS settings matched
