Would it be possible to play games (which may or may not have been acquired legitimately) on a hacked (Atmosphere) Switch online safely, with both hacked and non-hacked Switches? I'm not talking LAN, I mean over the Internet.
I think I heard about one such thing before, but I'm not entirely sure as I could not find it where I thought I first had (the GBATemp news section)
Thanks for any help!

Emunand is coming to atmosphere, which will allow for a config with a clean setup for online, but as above, only games you bought legit (or free games that you got legit) will work online. You can get some months of free NSO through that amazon/twitch offer that's around somewhere.

If you are pirating games, don't further disrespect the developers by using their online services with it. Buy the game if you want to play it legitimately.

That said and out of the way, you will not get very far online with a pirated copy (since it uses a fake cert). Maybe you get 1 or 2 matches (unlikely) in some games but in the end you will get caught and banned fairly quickly. In fact, if you have any unofficial NSP installed (even if it's just a homebrew and not a pirated game!) I would turn airplane mode on and leave that switch offline. Even if you don't launch the NSP while online, the switch reports it's installed app list to Nintendo.

Once Atmosphere releases their emu-nand, you will be able to separate these for sure, allow OFW to play OFFICALLY PURCHASED games online while allowing you to install games on emunand for OFFLINE PLAY.

That's effectively only local wireless (As you know, since you are the dev!) However I'd like to ask since we are on this subject - With a "system link" style connector app like that (Like XLink Kai for example) this only allows local lan play over a the internet correct? This requires you to know, or use a community of players to play with online still?

Yes and no. It's p2p but there are severs you can join specific to your game. If the game is popular enough, there will be people in there.

I haven't used something like Xlink Kai since old-school xbConnect days for xbox OG.

I've been getting more interested in setting it up. Here's a link I found in another thread if interested:

To OP: No safe way to play backups online rn. Play locally or use XLink

I've played smash online on AMS since it was possible but then I live in EU and don't pirate so it works out here. There's an extra toggle as all well for EU accounts which you can untick and may or may not affect the risk of getting banned (but then I don't pirate unlike the majority on this forum). I've kept wifi on since fw 2.0.1 btw, no issues so far.

If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction

    Just kiss me Kyle.
  • x65943 @ x65943:
You either need to be intubated to bypass obstruction or create a stoma inferior to the the area of obstruction to survive

"Just kiss me Kyle." And I thought all the godreborn gay stuff was a smear campaign
