Hacking RxTools on N3ds (Help)

I thought that already happened.

Not for bricktards. Apparently all bricks aren't just user error. (which most of them are)

If it has then I haven't seen it. It still seems to be the most frequent cause of any bricks that I've seen on forums like this.

Most of which are caused by users.

So it's not still causing random bricks then even if people are following all of the instructions to the letter? Because some threads on here seem to suggest otherwise.

No. I've installed A9LH on my Old, and New 3DS. @ihaveamac has also installed A9LH on multiple 3DSes.

Tbh though I have only been doing this for a few days after finding out that this stuff existed last week but I did a lot of research to be safe before modding both our consoles over the weekend.

It's really died down since its become so automated. I won't say you can't get a brick, but... you won't get a brick.

Downgrading has been made almost fool proof at this point thanks to safeSys and plaiSysUpdater but I'm not sure the same is completely true for a9lh.

I know about that tutorial thanks. I had to use part of it to downgrade an n3dsll yesterday because safesysupdater was repeatedly failing to pass one of the CIA files so I used plaiSysUpdater instead.

Don't doubt our savior "the guide" without him you'd see a lot more bricks and just trust us. It really ain't gonna get better than this. You still have to downgrade and update like everyone else. There's no better downgrader or something to make it 100% brick proof and that's the main cause of bricks.

Regardless of how long it takes, it is worth it. The recent progress has also made it much faster.
You can brick with any downgrader. (or anything that messes with firm in general) This doesn't just apply to A9LH. But the chance is so low that it's not worth being paranoid about.
So yes, A9LH is just as fool proof as downgrading now.

You're probably right but I would rather just give it some time personally and wait it out since things are changing so quickly in this scene at the moment and as long you have menuhax etc installed then a9lh is always a possibility anyway.

well, any of the soft bricks that could happen are recoverable. people fully brick when they:

1. Use the wrong System files (N3DS on O3DS, or O3DS on N3DS) for the 9.2 downgrade.

2. Update a New 3DS while on 2.1 via System Settings (either because of a partial downgrade or ignoring the guide and trying something else out for some reason)

3. do not pick full install on SafeA9LHInstaller when changing A9LH builds.

4. Downgrade a New 3DS to 2.1 without fixing the NAND first. (OTPHelper One Click Setup automates this now so this does not happen if the guide is followed)

5. Update a New3DS SysNAND that has A9LH and an older build of AuReiNAND/Cakes with no FIRM Protection)

If you can avoid these big 5, you will be fine.

Yes but I was ultra cautious on both occasions. I'm not going to lie, downgrading and cfw installation took me hours on both machines and I'm quite technically moved and educated.

Lol if you thought downgrading and getting cfw took a long time, holy sh*t. A9lh might take longer. If you're experienced, it could actually take you a hour from what I've heard, but for anyone doing it for the first time it can take you from 3-6 hours and possibly even the whole day.

I'm sure I'll give it a try at some point. The menuhax intermittent crashing at boot is pushing me towards learning about it at least. That seems like a more frequent issue on the n3ds to me as well, although that could just be me.

I was also. I freaked out when I could not figure out why I could not update my A9LH payload using SafeA9LHInstaller as I used CloudA9H earlier. turns out my A9LH folder was named AL9H.

Exactly and that's another reason why I'm saving it for later . Even mrmario's video guide for it is over 45 minutes long.

you are better off doing the guide now while 10.8 is not out yet. If you manage to get stuck in a partial downgrade situation that requires updating and trying again after 10.8 is out, you will be stuck as the chances of that patching the downgrade to 9.2 are very high.

While doing the stuff for a9lh takes a while most of it is the back ups and restoring. While all that is going on you can do other stuff. I used a second sd card so I didn't have to back up and restore my sd card(cut a good chunk of time out). While the nands backed up /restored I was playing games on my xbone and looking at stupid pics on imgur. The time it takes you to actually do stuff is nothing, most of it is waiting.
