Even though USB loaders are more commonly used than DVD backups, I thought it was cool that this was discovered. I posted a thread here in case anyone was interested.

Correct me if I’m wrong, But I dont know if this was discovered until now.

Special thanks to reddit User WiiExpertise for finding this!

Video I made of demonstrating it:

Thank you.:)

Personally I have no Idea but I do not think it is known.:D
For me it was new.
Cool,it also plays NTSC Backup Disc Games on the PAL Wii too.:)
But I have the Blue Screen with ERROR #002 when I start a Game.
Maybe I have overlooked a Settings in the Priiloader Hacks...
By the Way I use the latest v0.9 (beta v3).

@DacoTaco - I am pretty sure you know this Way,right ? :D

Thank you.:)

Yes this works – sort of. I tried this a while ago because running burned games from Disc Channel would be nice.

Early Wii games work fine but when I tried "New Super Mario Bros Wii" (and other newer games) I ran into trouble: The blue screen "002 An error has occurred". Newer games check if they run under to correct IOS and throw this error when run from disc channel forced into IOS249. And this is even the case for original pressed Wii discs!

This check in newer games makes the IOS249 Priiloader hack impractical for me and I disabled it returning to NeoGamma for starting DVD-R which patches everything automatically on the fly and even gets rid of the BCA check in New Mario Bros.

Backup disc loading (without a good modchip) is impractical anyway because of the slow reading speed which makes loading times a pain and some cutscenes stutter or skip.

Thank you, exactly that Games (both Versions) I have tried.:)
So it has to do with the Games itself.

Thank you for the Explanation.:)

That’s strange, 2 of the 3 Backups I’ve tried so far were released the same year as NSMBW (Sin and Punishment, which was shown in the Video as Well As Call Of Duty Modern Warfare). ... and I’m just trying NSMBW (retail) and it does indeed work.

EDIT: After a while, both retail games and Backup Discs would start to throw Error#002 about 50% of the time. So unless you don’t mind that just use neogamma or USB loaders. I just thought it was cool to be able to use backups on disc channel at all.
