AMSTERDAM - Apple is considering to give the ipod touch multiplayer- and calling functions with a special transceiver.
That's what we can conclude from the patent published last weekend.
Networks
In the patent, which says: ‘Accessory Transceiver for Mobile Devices’ talks about a transceiver which converts the ipod touch to a game console or a mobile phone. With the transceiver, a user could also connect to networks like WiMAX or the well-know US network CDMA. The transceiver can be made like a case for the ipod touch, or can be connected through a cable.
Apples patent does already have a competitor: A Chinese programmer released the apple Peel 520, which also converts the ipod touch into a working cellphone.

If this is true, I'm going to get an ipod touch 4g straigt away.
