I've had mine since June 08, no rrod so far. It's in a good position with nothing around it, but there's not much else it seems you can do to prevent it happening. I only get a few hours a week to play it usually, so mine doesn't get much wear... I wish I was still a teenager and had the time to play like I used to!

Got one in 2006, never had any problems with it.
It got banned so I recently purchased a new one and am not having any problem with it either!

yes i got the RROD in september after having my console for a year and a half, and then had someone fix it for me and it's been up and running ever since.

One a month or two ago, MS fixed it for free. Shipping both directions and even the box to ship it in!

No RRoD's but I have had my 360 freeze when I have gone to load a save game. Never had an issue with Banjo Kazooie but I have had issue with Lost Odyssey. I install everything to the HDD.

It has ONLY ever frozen when I have tried loading my save game from the HDD. I select load last save and it states loading and crashes. However, this has only ever happened since I placed the memory card in. It is very strange. It would lock up 3 out of 3 times if I had the 512Kb memory card in but if I took teh memory card out it loaded perfectly. I then tried memory card in and it froze on load and then memory card out and it worked.

I just kept the memory card out and it never happened again.

However, the strange thing is it has started to work with the memory card in as I sometimes forget to take it out

It's inevitable. It will happen to every single console sold. It's just a matter of time. The design is flawed, the case is ridiculously small for the amount of heat the console produces, which wouldn't be that bad in itself if there was proper airflow, however there's only two under-used fans in the back that are horribly placed, which still isn't that bad, but then they go and put the GPU under the most ridiculously small heatsink known to man, and then stuff that heatsink under a loud and hot dvd-rom. Even then, with all of the previous conditions being met, it wouldn't be too much of a problem, however, the amount of thermal paste used on the gpu is so sparingly small that the heat isn't dissipated properly through the heatsink, which in and of it self wouldn't be that bad, except the clamp, that holds the heatsink to the motherboard and processor is so weak and flimsy that when all of the inevitable conditions aforementioned apply, allow the processor to lift itself up from the motherboard and disconnect itself electrically, producing the dreaded read ring of death.

i don't think i will ever buy a modded 360 because the RROD problem is so bad, i don't think it's justified paying £300 for a modded console only for it to die within a year, that's crazy.

I have a Falcon board from 2007. In november 2008, i had a video error (E76, i think, with only Player 3 light turned on, red). I checked online and found out about the error, called support, told them about it, then found out i was 1 month out of the standard warranty. Fuck. I took the system to Game Traders Club (a mom&pop style game rental/purchase store) to see if it was my video cables.

Ed plugs it in, turns it on, no error message and three red lights.

It was the best RRoD ever. So i called Support back, told em, they said it was covered, and just three days ago (The last Thursday in Jan 2009), i picked my baby up at the UPS center, and he's home, and enjoying his life again.

But yes, an '07 Falcon DID RRoD on me. So don't think you're fully safe w/ a falcon.

PS from Pennsylvania, US, it was a 2.5 week turn-around, from when i dropped it off til when i picked it up.

I'm on my third Xbox 360. Luckily, I bought it from Costco. They have a satisfaction guarantee on everything they sell (Except for large electronics) Which means if I don't like something, or it breaks on me, I can just go into the store and exchange it for a new one or get my money back. And the best thing is? I can do this whenever. So in a way, there really is no limit for my warranty.

LMAO. Omg you got a falcon?? 200% oblivious to any form of problems!!

Ok sorry, don't mean to ridicule you, but cmon man, do your research. while the falcon motherboard IS less likely to fuck up than previous models, it's still very likely to die. It's the way the 360 is just made. I mean, no reports of the jasper fucking up yet, but still, you can't say that it isn't gonna rrod.

Anyway, yeah, I have had 2 rrod within the past year. both were falcon. I do plan on buying a lite on arcade though, as those usually come bundled with the jasper motherboard.

Woah, woah, woah, are you serious?? I always buy my 360's at the walmart NEXT to costco! I always assumed they would sell 360's in bundles, like the do with everything.

Actually - I just ran somes tests since my last post. I get 100% freeze when tryng to load a Lost Odyssey game (have not tested with any other game yet) when I have a 512Mb memory card in. However, If I connect to xBox live first and then start Lost Odyssey with teh memory card in the game loads fine....

Very weird but this is probably an isolated situation. Not sure why it works when I connect to xBox Live first - but hey - saves me taking the memory card out.

I have never had a crash or anything so far if the memory card has been out all together.

I have a xBox 360 Elite and it wa smade 38th Week of 2008. It is a Falcon. However, I wish I had of waited to bu after Christams as local stored EB Games etc were all out of stock - meaning they would have go tnew stock in January and would have had a higher chance of being a Jasper. not that it matters - if it RRoD's then it does but why not have the latest and have potentially less of a chance

Anyway, time will tell if I get RRoD or not (only a 3 month old tops consol) but I still think the memory card situation causing afreeze is weird.

I have had 4 Red Rings of Death.

I know I don't have a newer board because the last time it happened was before the Elite.

Four red rings just means your console hasnt got an AV cable connected to it, or its just not detecting it. You cant really call that 4 red rings "of death" lol

He's right. I shop at Costco all the time, they're nice about returns. But when you return ten xbox 360's.. Well...
