Hi there,

Did an update using the built in updater (from 5 to 5.01) it failed during the upgrade process but it did say datatbase update complete. Restarting give me these errors:

1057
1033
1034

then error 1033 if you even click on the program. The system seems to hang but you can ALT + TAB to change to another prog and then go back and click ok to the error. Touch anything but the close button and it happens over again.

Now I'm sure I could just reinstall and fix this but thought you might want some feedback. I won't reinstall until you reply.

Great program, but is there any specific reason you decided to make it use floating windows? I like the way it worked in the other version better.

I'm not complaining, just curious as to why you changed it.

The only floating windows added were the Toolbox and the Details -- The Details has been reverted back to the regular window though, so no worries.

@Fazered: I'll see if I can replicate your issues.

Thanks Henry-

fix it i might give it a whirl, but like you said, move on, i did and have been using the R4 successfully with a diff prog

no worries, and i do appreciate you working out whatever the kink was.

Not sure if this is a problem or not, using Windows Vista Home Premium, and it just kinda hangs a bit (sometimes says it aint responding) when I first run it, but works nonetheless once its "booted" up, just thought to inform you. Also, when I check for updates, the latest Rominator is always listed even if I have updated it (copied the updated over the old one, and tried other things). Also, Dementium - The Ward (#1567) isn't validating correctly. You're DB CRC is 1777349B, while the CRC listed on advanscene is 6D03B8BA. One more thing is, not sure if you did this on purpose, but the Rominator Toolbox is always on top of other windows, even if Rominator isn't in focus, like if I have the Toolbox open, and click on Firefox, it's still on top of Firefox. Overall, everything works pretty well

. Thanks again for the great app(s)

Hiya,

Yeah, it looks like I have some bad dumps -- I'm doing a database update today anyways, so I'll correct any CRC errors that have been reported.

Also, I've made the toolbox a non-global floating window for the next release. It was annoying

I don't really see the point of Rominator.

I can manage my ROMs just fine without it.

OMG, I just recognised your dysmorphic features. Guys, this is a troll who lives on the NDSTokyoTrim thread. Instead of being in the proper place (under the Utilities subforum) it's in the R4 section as the author admits he won't otherwise get enough exposure (sad). NDSTT displays backgrounds of cartoons of children wearing lingerie/posing whilst you do your trimming. Sickening.

In fact Warcueid, your assertion that you don't need Rominator is NOT because you don't need the functions, it's actually because you use another one. The main difference between that one and Rominator is that that one uses JaPaedo backgrounds.

So I guess your actual statement is "I don't really see the point of Rominator.
tongue.gif
I use one with pictures of semi-naked CHILDREN in it instead"
.

Again.....sickening.
Feel free to continue using that junk, but please do so OVER THERE and not OVER HERE....troll

I was thinking a troll lives under a bridge!

...

Umm, you're more or less the same. Please, stop.

1) It's a background. Don't cry over it, your "intellectual points" sound more like trolling.
2) You're assuming the "age" of a "picture" of an "anime" girl.
3) Japanimation is only a "likeliness" of a human form.
4) Your post has no real relevance to the main topic. (Warcueid's post is also spam)
5) That "junk" you speak of: Works well, and perhaps faster than Rominator for trimming. (I use NDSTokyoTrim for trimming and Rominator for organizational purposes).
6) Brian hardcoded the background on because people like "you" were complaining about it in the first place.
7) See rule: # Do not "flame" others. Blatantly offensive posts directed at others will not be tolerated. While we do allow members to debate and voice their own opinions, their will be a limit to how far a heated debate can go before it is closed by staff. -- You lied to us.

If you don't see how your post breaks the rules: Flaming is any sort of offensive(to berate or demean[as in to lower character quality]) post that is targeted against another member.

...

Anyway, I love Rominator, it helps me organize all the garbage I've obtained over the past year. Thanks hankchill for making such a good program, and hope it only becomes better.

I like this tool, but it really could be advanced in case of the actuality.
What do you need an archieve-tool which can't archieve for?
frown.gif

Maybe you could add a feature, that Rominator gets its informations about new releases from the internet?
I mean from pages like gbatemp.net or ds-scene.net, where releases are listed quite fast.

This would be awesome, since the tool would be up to date every time a new release gets listed.

I am waiting for a new update to the database for more than a week now
frown.gif

please work on that!

I will still use Rominator, hoping database updates will be released faster in the future

I'd prefer to keep it my own database because if in the future I need to store any other kind of information in the database, I don't need to start from scratch; I can just add a new table and have it updated in seconds.

Regarding the database update, it'll be ready soon; I'm finishing it up now

Anyone else use Rominator with Wine? I tried getting the Linux version to run but I'm still new at Linux and couldn't get it right. Running it okay in Wine but when my mouse cursor goes over the main areas of the windows, it disappears. It comes back when I hover over taskbars etc but it makes Rominator useless if I can't see where my mouse is to click on games
frown.gif

Incidently, the error codes I get are 1001 and 1034 (using Kubuntu). Is there a way of making Rominator install like other programs install and set themselves into the start menu? It's a bit awkward having to open a console and do the chxmod and then the rominator command everytime rather than just click an icon.

I was just thinking, is it possible to have a database editor (or is it possible for some people to edit the database already?)? Not to be offensive, I don't think you'll enjoy updating the database when you finally knocked all the kinks out of your rom manager, and everything is pretty finalized, that way someone else can probably pick it up (the database updates) and keep updating the database while you're off on vacation or enjoying a beer or something lol. Also, perhaps it would be a good idea to even let the user choose where to download the database updates so when other people update we can just point rominator in that direction so you wouldn't have to host your own updates. Maybe something like this could be implemented when you're just about done with rominator? Just a thought

I have a Database Editor, however it's for my own personal use, because it allows me to update and upload the database right from the program.

Believe me, I will enjoy updating the database when I've knocked out all the bugs, because as it stands right now I've got 100 bugs to work out, PLUS updating the database. What I did was I had someone pick up the database updates for me, but it didn't work out because right when he started updating he disappeared off the face of the earth, so I have a hard time trusting someone else to continue updates. You know what they say, if you want it done, do it yourself
wink.gif

It wouldn't make sense for the user to decide where they want to get their database updates from, as from my server is the only place that has a compatible database
wink.gif

And believe me, I'll never be done with Rominator, so long as I own a DS
biggrin.gif

I have 36 hours this week available for whatever I want, so I'm going to dedicate most of it to development of Rominator. Next week I go on vacation for 2 weeks but I will still be about and doing the weekly database update... since I'm not really going anywhere.

ALSO, WHILE I'M HERE:
I wanted to let you all know that I've been getting tons of feedback regarding the Rom Queue, saying that you get Error 1117 when trying to flash. This is a known issue, it will be fixed in the next couple days when I do my coding blitz. Any other bugs, report em now because I'll be non-stop programming!

Mh, I just downloaded the database-update and restarted the tool but it won't acknowledge the newer files.

I guess I also found a bug in the Win-version.
When you create a new game list and want to delete it, it re-appears after a restart.

i cant use the Rom Queue , every file i try adding says it has 0 MB... am i doing something wrong??

What part of 'Use Rominator Feedback' do you guys not understand. I can see you're new and that this is your first post, but I'm not helping anyone unless they log their problem with the Feedback system so I can get more information from you.

You guys need to understand, just saying 'I can't use this' doesn't do any justice. I need you to provide information such as your name, OS, games involved, etc so I can do some better troubleshooting. I won't say it again.

So please, use the Feedback system.

Hank -- I got to hand it to you. You are astounding. You not only develop a totally rad application and then release it for all 3 major platforms, but you continue to hang around here, taking requests for features, and helping people with their idiotic questions. No one does that nowadays. You deserve some kind of award.

Bravo.

I can't see my mouse cursor on Wine to navigate getting around to the feedback system
smile.gif

Linux version definately bugs out when I load it up and won't let me have any control of Rominator because it keeps coming up with error codes
frown.gif

This is more of a question than a bug report, so figured I'd ask here. If we add games to the manager, and "flash" them over to our cart with the trim settings on that we want, will it still trim it or can that potentially break something? I didn't want to try it out, so I tried dragging them to the trimmer you have in the toolbox, it didn't work. It worked however dragging it from where I have the rom stored onto it, but not from the manager to the trimmer. Forgot to mention I'm on Win Vista Home Prem.
