Wondering about ROM versions, how do they get there, do they replace a release number 0000 or get their own release number?

That and ROM patches, what're those for when they aren't a translation?

DSi games with enhanced security or somethin'? Or even DS games with that sorta thing?

They get their own release number. Check Pokemon Diamond for a good example, which I think has a version 1.6 dump out there already...

waht

Patches for ROMs are just kind of like files whose purpose is to overwrite parts of another file...without like, actually sending the entire file over (because sometimes that's illegal) It's generally for translations here on GBAtemp, but also good for ROM fixes, and sometimes just for fun, like for example, "undubbing" - where the voice acting in a US game is replaced with the Japanese voice acting without changing any other parts of the game, but also uncensoring, where images taken out of a game for weird reasons are replaced (i.e. patching the pins in TWEWY made in the likeness of Japanese magazines back into the game, just because we're all nerds here)
