Yay, I got my header :) I can use this on any game, not just Smash Bros, correct? I don't plan to play Smash (physical) while playing online w/ my Gateway ever.

Maybe, there are some issues with TitleID and cart size, post it and we can check it out for you.

Seriously, I'm not going to read 70 pages of you guys insulting each other, talking about nonsense and bullshit, and going off on tangents JUST to answer a simple question. There is nothing wrong with asking a question on a forum.

With that said, that you to those of you who did cooperate and respond. :) It seems that I am inevitably doomed to use public headers.

Do the headers only effectively ban players who attempt to play online or is it anytime you connect your 3ds to the internet with that cart inserted?

Well if you put some common sense to it you will realize that if a header appears to be used 10 000 hours a day it means that it is shared on several consoles. The sensible thing to do is remove the header from the white-list or or ban the consoles using it.

"How do I dump my cartridge?" requires a thread of its own.

Question. If you dump your own header, can you safely use that one for multiple games, or should each game that uses online features have a unique header?

Unfortunately the site admins removed Ask GBAtemp from the site specifically so that you can't ask short questions. You are supposed to use search and sift through dozens of pages.

I assumed it was one of the unfortunate side-effects of moving over to Xenforo. Going out on a limb here, but I honestly doubt mods and admins think it is fun to filter and close 47289957294627 threads which usually can be answered by using a simple search.

i see that sky3ds users are getting banned by overusing public headers... however, how does a sky3ds user go about using a legitimate header? how do you find a rom header on a real flashcart? also, how soon are roms dumped online after they are released? thanks guys!

Check Ebay

Great
I am going to have to do this when I get home. Dump a game extract the header and then sell 500 copies to sky users and tell them I will delete it once I send it to them. You can trust me. Lol

Well it's not a lie.. I wouldn't rip people off, like some would... Trustworthy person... I have like 20 Headers all going up for sell.. then I will get more new ones.. until I run out.

I mean, if people like you are going to be assholes, I'll just put up a tutorial on how to dump headers on 9.5 without gateway. There's no need to create a market for something people already have.

How do you do that? (I'm new here and I just got my 3DS so I'm sorry but I don't really know what you're talking about.)

Like I said, I'll probably put up a guide later. All you need is a Sky and a rom of a game you own an actual cart of (doesn't need to be private).

Wait, so this does NOT require a Gateway card? Without a Gateway, how am I supposed to get a ROM of a game that I already own. Or do I need a ROM of a "game that I own", not necessarily the EXACT copy I own.

I'm too busy with some other RE to type up a full guide at the moment, but the gist is:
1) Use a public header on your rom of the game you own. Note the cartridge (unique) ID of that rom. (0x1240, 16 bytes, or 0x40 in sky3ds template)
2) Start the backup of that game up, try to connect to its online functions, then hit home as it's trying to connect and dump memory.

3) Do that again, but with your real cart.
4) Find your unique ID from your public header in your dump from that. Flip byte order if you can't find it.
5) Search for the same region in your genuine dump. Do this by either jumping to the same address in your first dump (unlikely) or searching for data that was close to your ID in the first dump (do this).
6) When you've found your legit unique ID, add it to your template with sky template maker (or manually if you hate yourself)
EDIT: Oh and here's the dumper I use for my 9.x hax, use it if you don't have your own already.
