Your life has come to an end, but today marks a new begging for you.

I can see the Xbox 360 today as a "New PSP", the console was released with it's games, then it's marketplace and years later the console was no more being sold, now it's marketplace was shut down. And why the "New PSP" ? Because soon, there will be new and easier methods to mod it, tons of homebrews and who knows... a talented group of devs makes a "Insignia" like for the 360.... maybe the the Insignia devs themselves make a new version for the 360.

The truth is, this is a console that will NEVER be forgotten, the 360 was very special to me (even tho mine only lasted 6 months before die) and because of its legacy and every history it made, I decided to write this, kinda like a love letter ❤️

You are free to tell your stories with the 360 here, I'm very interested to know about it :shy:

I went through about 7 of them that got RROD first buying one off someone for $150 and then finding them pretty cheap at pawn shops for $30-$50. Used to use a towel to somehow magically make them work temporarily again after RROD but it would always happen again. Finally settled on a Jasper that I RGH'd and never had a problem again. Never had anything but the first model.

This reminds me, I put away my old black elite and the R2D2 with a whole bunch of games in the storage somewhere. I skipped the PS3 because of the 360 and its games library. Too bad Xbox's glory days are long gone.

I doubt some arrogant, upper middle class americans willingly destroying their property for views and e-fame is any indication of a console's prosperity or popularity.

No.

Just go on YouTube and search "Xbox 360 destruction" or something like that. You'll find TONS of videos showing how much people appreciated the Xbox 360.
...and I imagine that those 'tons' of people probably equal less than 1% of the people that love the system. Yes, RRoD was a thing in the early days, and I can imagine that a few people that suffered that fate would destroy their effectively dead systems for e-clout... but, it's the only Microsoft console to out sell Sony's platform of it's generation for very good reason.

No, they would do that out of rage quit over a game, or in the case of the famous Psycho Dad, because he just hates video games as a whole.

So, you're saying that rage quitting a game equals hating the console? If that's true, I'd predict that the PS2 must be the most unpopular and hated console ever.

Well, now I see you simply don't want to understand how many people hated the Xbox 360 (and the Xbox One after it). Even HowToBasic does, he fucked up two 360's just for two tutorials*!

*Actually destruction videos. Don't think otherwise.

You clearly had little experience with the system and are just spouting perceived second hand information from a handful of negative-nancy's on YouTube without bothering to look at the complete picture.

See? I knew you were going to reply with the same words as mine.

The Xbox 360 really did define a whole generation of gaming and was there with many firsts.

From day one we had achievements and gamerscore, that encouraged you to do things in games you might not normally, or even replay games to try get some additional missing achievements.

The Xbox 360 was also the first time the online gaming became accessible to the average person. Sure some of us had been playing games like Quake, Counter Strike and Unreal Tournament online in the 90s with dialup internet, however we had never been able to play online with our non techy friends who only gamed on consoles.

The 360 really opened up online gaming to the masses for the first time. I remember my friends nephew got the internet sometime in 2007 just so he could play Gears of War online with us all. He didn't even have a PC, which was required to set the router / modem up, so I ended up taking my laptop to his house to get the internet account setup and his Xbox online.

Everything was so seamless once you had someone as a friend, I remember in the early days voice chatting with my friend while he was playing PDZ and I was playing Kameo, back then even on PC games most people didn't voice chat and we just typed in game. In the early days I did like how everyone would voice chat in public and for the most part people were civil to each other. Most of the random people still on my Xbox friends list today come from that era.

I also have good memories of running a long ethernet cable across the house so my brother and I could system link co-op Gears of War.

Arcade games on the 360 we're great too. Some of my favourite games that generation were arcade games. I loved competing with my friends for high score on Marble Blast Ultra and Trials HD.

Game leaks were also crazy that generation, I remember Gears of War leaking early and been jealous as I really waned to play it, however didn't really want to get my 360 banned so never modded it back then. Then as years went on it got to the point where most highly anticipated games leaked 3+ weeks early, or sometimes before they were even announced once Jtag hacked 360's became a thing and everything from PartnerNet started leaking.

Although it never became the norm that generation I did also like the cross play on Shadowrun between the 360 and PC.

In my opinion the 360 era was the best time to be a console gamer. The 360 in my opinion is also the best Xbox released to date. I don't think the present Xbox consoles or future Xbox consoles will ever capture what made the 360 era so fun.

Man, I feel you on this. The Xbox 360 was such a game-changer, literally and figuratively. It’s wild to think how much it shaped gaming for so many of us. I remember the first time I fired up Halo 3 on my 360, just being blown away by how it looked and played. That console was like the center of so many good times, from those late-night gaming sessions to the excitement of downloading something new from the marketplace.Even though it’s all kind of fading into the past now with the marketplace shutdown and all, I totally agree—the 360 will never be forgotten. It had that perfect mix of killer games, great online features, and just a ton of memories attached to it. Who knows what’s next for it in the modding scene? Maybe we’ll see a whole new chapter for the 360, just like the PSP before it.
