I'm assuming this'll still work with modchips, but what about cIOS corp users? Did you guys add a check for the DIP modules?

Modchip will work
if modchip was that easy to detect and lock, why nintendo never use it in the first place ? (wait, because they don't care ? it makes Wii selling, or course !)

uh, not trying to be retarded, i just am

and I'm still asking.....why were features not included deliberately???

EDIT: I mean if your going to state "not a bug" please explain so myself and others don't have to ask.

cIOSCORP won’t work. The IOS is patched on the fly from a clean one, an awesome feature that means bannerbomb users don’t need to install a new IOS or download anything from the Nintendo servers (except the latest update). Since cIOSCORP and a clean IOS to patch can’t co-exist, it’s impossible.

Since it’s it’s own loader, USB ‘backups’ won’t work.

The loader does all the proper checks for bca and disk reliability, for stability reasons (specifically stability with NSMBWii, which was a little unstable during early testing). It hasn’t been tested much with modchips, but one of our testers ‘mysteriously’ started getting Disk Read Errors right after we added them in.

And yes, this app was developed with an ‘anti-piracy’ ideology. That means we purposefully developed it to be a program to enable cool features for owners of legit disks, and legit disks only. This was a conscious choice on the part of the developers.

Pirates, or those who have disk drive errors from reading too many backups (I have a launch Wii and my gf easily clocks dozens of hours a week, and my laser is fine), can simply go use Wii Scrubber and whatever backup loading method you like. No hard feelings. We aren’t making this app to insult you, we’re making this app so that legit disk owners can do the cool things that were formerly limited to pirates.

99% of those w/o a legit disc around here are, though. Riiv is here to make mods for disc owners much easier and faster to accomplish. I have a USB loader and I have a few games I don't own, and quite a few that I do (Yeah, carrying discs around is kinda annoying), but I do have a legal copy of Brawl and NSMBW, etc. And you know what? It's a heck of a lot easier than messing with hard-mods. And there will be some amazing XML setups for stuff like Brawl where people can slot in any costume they want without fumbling with renaming files.

Long story short, it's not meant for pirates so why cater to them? Now quit asking, please. :3

Oh cool, nice to know man. Thanks for the info, very enlightening.

Ok, two questions:

1)Has the IOS changed? The one from the Fatal Frame 4 Patch was version 3. Now version 4, or still the same?
2)Still no SNEEK-Support?

Thanks in advance, and awesome work

!

It no longer installs any IOS. Feel free to trash the Fatal Frame IOS (242) and use this program as the loader instead. Requires the latest clean version of IOS37 for the the on the fly IOS patching.

And there will never be SNEEK support. I’m not sure of the reasoning, but it never worked with SNEEK and a check is in place to quit safely if SNEEK is detected, as opposed to total crashage.

Tempus, it'll work with a patched (RSD Patcher) 37 right? I'm guessing that "clean" means no cIOSCORP or anything but I'm just making sure.

Anyways, endless possibilities, what can people come up with?
- DJH (Whenever Aaron fishes out that one byte

)
- GH (Whee PoC video)
- RB (Whee me testing the Track Pack)
- Brawl
- NSMB
- Mario Kart
- What else? I'm at a loss

No, it literally needs a clean IOS37. Even RSD patcher will not work (verified with tueidj).

Other cool stuff you can do:

- Zero4 Translation patch
- Any other translation patches
- Replace any brstms with your own custom music (many games use brstms)
- Undubs

Intriguing, although I have no problems with installing a fresh version (I wonder how RSD 3.0 works though). And yes, patches are awesome. This is quite literally the first homebrew that I've been eager to see in a long time- heck, I don't think my enthusiasm levels were this high even with SNEEK and the first backup loader.

Long live the Wii scene.

One thing for sure, I am -not- going to install a fakesign-proof IOS. I know that as long as there is one IOS with fakesigning support, the others not having it is insignificant, but still, it goes against my idea of a clean, countermeasure-free system. I even hate to put WGA tools on my genuine Windows installations, and this is no different.

I haven't gotten to test it, but it should match the Wiki's description of the patch format...

A schema for Riivolution XML files

If you have an editor that handles XML (Visual Studio, etc.) that should hopefully assist in writing the XML patch files, assuming I didn't mess something up

TempusC, I told you that I know that this will not lock down my Wii completely. Even if it did, I could still revert with a NAND dump. But having refused official updates since the first release of IOS37 (despite knowing of its insignificance as a single update), I do not see why I should change my radically anti-anti-fakesigning position now. I prefer to use USB over disks anyway, and, as pointed out in the discussion about that FAQ point, USB loading makes direct file replacement an easy task anyway.

No offense, but that is kind of paranoid. I'm careful with my updates, since I want to be sure the Wii isn't going to delete my HBC or something like that and even I'm not that bad.

Anyway, this sounds pretty nice Tempus. I hope to use it with NSMBWii in the future.

I got the File Replacement for Brawl to work but now I'm working on the Orcarnia Code stuff.

Do I put my GCT in the /riivolution folder or leave it in my codes folder?
In the XML it refers to "discid.gct". Should I rename my GCT to RSBE01 or just RSB?

I'm trying to figure it out myself so I don't have to bug you guys but I'm lost :/

I'm lost as to what to enable/disable.
Oh I renamed the Brawl+ line to vBrawl Hacks since I don't play Brawl+. Is that a problem?

Well, you’re free to do as you like. However, for other people who read this, even having no fakesigned IOS’s do not pose a problem to most users, and it’s usually sufficient to have one single fakesigned IOS. Riivolution does not require any fakesigning to run, and indeed, requires that the patch which passes itself off as the ‘fakesigning’ patch is not on IOS37. The 'fakesigning patch’ does not actually restore the trucha fakesigning bug but just disables the signature check completely, which achieves the same end roughly (info tidbit).

Edit: Zolga - I actually don’t know how the Ocarina support works. Aaron added it himself a few days before release. Pop onto #NSMBW on freenode or #RawkSD on efnet and ask Aaron when he wakes up.
