Hi everyone,
My DS Lite's right hinge broke off and the top screen is hanging solely on to it's left hinge and I'm contemplating on getting it repaired. Everything works fine, I'm able to run games, the screens are fine. But I'm faced with a few problems:
1) I threw out all the boxing/packaging/receipt for my DS (I'm assuming this isn't a big deal since I read that they send you boxes/packaging to place your DS in...correct me if I'm wrong)
2) The Serial Number on my DS has been wiped off clean
3) My warranty has expired (I know no one can help me with this problem and I don't mind paying repair costs, beats buying a new DS)
I used my sister's serial number on the nintendo website and the amount for repairs was $75. Now I don't know how common this problem is so can someone tell me if it's a common repair by Nintendo that can easily be fixed or am I better off just spending that extra $30 for a Factory Certified System to replace my old one.
If my situation does not look like Nintendo will accept my DS Lite, can anyone give me advice on alternatives (replacement cases, alternate repair locations...btw I reside in Toronto, Canada if anyone knows any cheap places that do DS repairs please enlighten me)
I appreciate any help.
