Recently, news has spread of a Lego Star Wars exploit for the Wii. After last week’s Bathaxx release there wasn’t much rush to get our LSW exploit out there but it seems the cat is out of the bag. Releasing our own version now would make more sense than waiting or not releasing at all. No disrespect is meant towards the person who worked on the LSW exploit that has been making the rounds on news sites, but we figured it wouldn’t hurt to share what we’ve created.

This exploit works on the original Lego Star Wars game as well as the newer (1.01) release (NTSC and PAL) all through one masterfully crafted save.

Thanks goes out to lewurm for fine-tuning all code and testing the PAL region save and of course Team Twiizers for initial LIJ source.

[segher: And of course, thanks to roto for doing all the heavy lifting for this exploit! And to drmr for the awesome graphics.]

Have a look at the source code, or download the binary.

As always, be sure to read the license before redistributing the binary: it’s GPL, you are not allowed to distribute without also giving out the source code. So please don’t.

It seems that yet another Lego game for the Wii has been exploited, this is great because it just gives us so many options for homebrew enabling the wii now.

Yay another one!.

How come that most game exploits are from lego games? I mean there's one for 3 now.

Probably because whoever programmed the lego games did a real sloppy job of it.
I guess they may work on similar exploits, so think of it as a "standard" for exploitation, haha.

Makes it easier to find the exploits and all huh?

Yeah, it's probably an issue of bad porting, first from older code to the Wii, and then from the first Wii port to newer Wii titles all on the same basic engine.

For the LEGO games at least

Wow, maybe this spells the end for Lego games as we know it.

Maybe a Lego 3DS hack?

lol

I'm guessing the 3DS version is a new engine, so it still might happen, just not in the same way.

Well, none of the exploits came to light until all the currently exploited games had been released. And it uses the exact same bug in all three, with a malformed character AFAIK. So it was a case of reusing code (a perfectly understandable practice in programming), which turned out to be buggy.

I would love to see a 'Petz' hack for the 3DS, if that crappy shovelware makes it there
