Allegedly, someone had fixed up the firmware for this console and fixed the emulators.

I can't find the firmware. So, is this an internet myth?
 
I don't remember their being an "improved FW" but if you are referring to being able to add your own games you can use this info...

Extract the attached key.zip and place the resulting key.bin file on the root of your sdcard. Create a folder on the root and name it: ROMS
Put uncompressed ROMs in there for supported systems. Mame/Neo Geo needs to be zip of course and, if I recall, from the v0.37b5 romset.

Also, before anyone potentially gets upset, there shouldn't be an issue publicly sharing this key.bin file since if you open it in a hex editor you will only find this:

Last note, I believe you had to have the later revision of this device for this to work - tho it's possible what I'm remembering is that the later revision had better support, not that one was compatible and the other wasn't. Can't hurt to try...
