I have the packs in the root of the sd card because that's where they worked from with the standalone tyr, do they have to be anywhere specific for retroarch to load it?

I think it's not finding the databases.
In addition to having the databases in the system dir, make sure the system dir is set to what you think it's set to

Mame 2003 is the recommended one afaik

Thanks! Another question, is there a way to play Die Hard Arcade? At starting the rom there's an error about console region, because the rom try to use Jap Bios (from what I read online). How can I set the rom to use US Bios instead?

Is the "system" directory known as what the "bios" directory is? I'm not home so I can't check my directory paths. If it is however a bios directory, then that directory's correct, since I have bios running perfectly for my GameBoy/Color/Advance, Game Gear/Genesis/Sega CD/PCE CD, etc, etc.

After trying the 25th Jan nightly I can confirm for some mame games it's still showing them upside down and therefore unplayable, give Donkey Kong or Pacman a try. Don't know if it's linked to the screen size as the games are stretched out to fill more of the screen than earlier versions.

Yes my friend, the system directory is the one which RetroArch checks for the bios files :)
Be sure to double check under the "Directories" option in Settings, you can change the paths if you'd like.

Ok then that's not the issue then, since every other core that requires bios are functioning properly. I'm stumped. :-/

I wonder, have you tried different Coleco ROMs?
Maybe the ROM could be at fault or something, try with different Coleco roms to see if one boots.

Nope. tried running Defender/Centipede/Burgertime, all unzipped, still crashes...

Here are screenshots of my sd card, and how I have the folder structures.

So that everything, I'm at the end of my rope here. I'm also using the latest nightly build. (1-25-18)

Directories seem fine.
The weird thing is that is still gives DSI even after having the bios and unzipping the ROM.

Let me give this a try today after work, I'll download the Coleco BIOS and get a ROM just for testing, I'll let you know if I get the same or managed to run the ROM.
