I decided to let go of my Miis and enter the Switch Homebrew Hypetrain.
Installing and running the hbmenu worked at first try. pFBA works superb so I went on to try some RetroArch cores.
Snes9x seem to work (played some Super Mario World) but mGBA crashes instantly.
Also does anyone know how to re-enter the emulator menu (for both, pFBA and RetroArch). Couldn't figure that out.

Beside from that: Wow, what a feeling to play some Street Fighter III on my Switch. I should have done this much earlier. :D

+ und - , and dont use mgba use Gambatte i didnt fix it for joke ^^ i know there is a tearing but still better than nothing.

And the good news to be back into the hype train is that @Qlutoo got the clearbuffers working for the nvidia drivers now its just a matter of days or weeks until we see an Switch GPU Driver.

Woohoo, great news! GPU Drive, Fusée Gelée and atmosphere, this is going to be a fantastic year for the Switch. :)

GPU Might even come sooner as you think , plutoo is doing an amazing work Reversing the Unit once done he can write it and we should concern to build an RetroArch LibNX version soon because i dont think that plutoos gpu drivers will be adapt by libtransistor anytime soon

it might not work yet .. its the reason why i did not update any core there is too much bugs config files not working etc
Yeah you'r right... I've got my config and edit it on my. PC. FAST FORWARD was set to 0.0. I've set it to 3.0 and Save my config. After load config on switch (also i edited folders and input too) nothing happens ... Seems to bw not implented / buggy ^^

Try VBA, I only used an old build, but it worked without bugs.
Also be sure to save ingame (not savestate) and exit through + -, B, exit.

One question: what happened finally with the NDS emulator? I thought it didn't need any GPU drivers, but why it didn't release yet?

Probably because it's still too slow?

Greetings.

Does that mean that emulators for PSX or N64 games will run with acceptable speeds or will we have to wait for a kernel exploit for that?

They would run without a kernel exploit if a gpu driver is integrated into libnx and homebrews are built with that.

That's amazing news. Also don't forget Plutoo is already bringing JIT on LibNX. JIT is extremely important to enhancing speed on emulators of course besides gpu drivers. Well do you think Plutoo will gonna bring vulkan api on switch as well? Because the switch is supported vulkan.
Please answer and thanks.

Not only that also we can get dolphin emu if the developers interested.

That's the issue, RetroArch is based on libtransistor, not libnx.
Which is why I haven't removed the bold pink letters from the OP :P
Having a libnx based port of RetroArch would help a lot seeing how fast things are moving with the development of libnx with the inclusion of JIT and the upcoming inclusion of a proper GPU driver as well, it would help boost heavy cores like FBA, N64 and PSX (maybe even Dreamcast) to a considerable and well performing state.

I'm aware of this (and you should keep those bold pink letters right where they are lol).
pFBA shows us gladly how powerful and smooth retro gaming can be on the Switch and it's amazing.
I prefer RetroArch nevertheless so I hope - along all the CFW and GPU driver things - that it will be at least as great as it is on the Wii U by the end of this year. :)

You and me, both my friend :)
Let's hope so!

Not sure if it works or not, but I'm playing Fire Red, and if you press the (+,-) and go down a bit it shows "cheats" can we use cheats on fire Red?
Edit: found it first post that cheats do work. Now to find away to add them to Switch lol.
Edit: can't seem to get cheats to work, it crashes.

Last edited by Galaxysm,
i was able to build an Snes9x core with Devkitpro , if somebody could help me fix the makefile.switch for RetroArch we could try to make a test build to see if it works (libnx) the makefile.switch needs to be rewritten

Wait so you were able to make a Snes9x build using libnx?

I might be able to help, I do have some experience with makefiles.
Send me the link to the makefile and I'll see what I can do.

I was thinking earlier, something cool that RetroArch needs is the ability to have two config presets that maybe you can assign to docked and handheld mode.
So for example, you might have a config preset that uses a 720p resolution, JoyCons for input, etc, which you set as the "handheld preset". And then you can have a 2nd preset that it seamlessly switches to when you dock the device, that maybe uses 1080p res, possibly a scanline shader, and maybe the Pro Controller as the input.

Oddly beetle crashes on me completely when I try to use it.

No white screen or anything, just the black error screen telling me to power off the switch.
