--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Unfortunately updating assets didn't solve my problem. I've had this problem for months across different versions of ppsspp retroarch. When I Load a save state it freezes then I have to hit home button and close the game then says "the software was closed because an error occured" I am on FAT32 9.2 latest Atmosphere.

Even when I try to make a new save state same freeze happens.
thats usually when u load a savestate that doesnt exist.

Perhaps really old save states just don't work anymore? Like save states from early to mid 2019? Those are when they were made.

Nm that doesn't explain making new states. I'll just wait to hear from you ty.

I tried pretty much every core on the latest RA nightly and I found :

- Flycast : I have only two CDI files, Sonic Adventure 1 = crash after SEGA logo, Sturmwind = black screen after SEGA logo. Those games were working before.
- PPSSPP : crash (stand alone version works great but in RA it crashes right after loading a game)
- Vice64 (C64) : I cannot get the fire buttons to work on "retropad".

I am on latest atmosphere.

1.8.5. latest PPSSPP launches games fine, same as before, but now it freezes RA everytime on closing content (and it seems that the core is not the issue, since it happens with prev core too, the one that worked for me on 1.8.4). Idk about latest flycast since im using the old SA2 and Soulcalibur core without any issues and i'm not planning to update it anytime soon anyway (and SA1 works there too).

Thanks. I will do a fresh install of RA and see if it solves the problems. Are you using stable version ?

Do any GB/GBA emulators in retroarch support 2 switch linking? I know some emulators will do single switch linking where they load 2 roms at once, but what about if my friend and I are both running retroarch and want to trade pokemon with each other or battle in advance wars etc?

Nightly + .nro from buildbot

So I did a fresh install that solved the PPSSPP side (like you it freezes RA when I close a content).
For Flycast, can you please share you core ? I think the latest one does not work well, I tried other games that launch but SA1 still crashing, sturmwind too. Thanks in advance !

This is the core ver with fixes for SA2 and SoulCalibur... And i have no problems with it, so no need for updating when everything works for me.

Can anyone please let me know if it is possible to emulate a Gameboy link cable between 2 different switches for trading Pokemon etc? My friend and I would like the ability to trade or connect to each other to play Gameboy games multiplayer.

I see retroarch has a netplay feature but reading the description doesn't sound like it will do what I want (specifically says not for trading Pokemon) and I see a way to emulate a cable between 2 roms running on the same switch or system when I look online which would require giving each other our roms or saves rather than "multiplayer" between 2 systems.

I am open to using retroarch to do this if possible or a standalone emulator if needed but really trying to find an answer if this is possible or if I need to use my actual physical Gameboy to do this kind of linking.

Dunno if this helps you:

In the last YT link there he's running two instances of VBA (standalone though).
Other than that I'm not aware of a way to do this yet.

I appreciate the reply and will look into it and see if maybe there is vba standalone for the switch as I am at work right now and can't look it up. I did download mgba standalone from the hbg shop and the "options" or settings seem very limited in the emulator and did not see anything referencing linking either standalone like sameboy or by linking 2 separate consoles. We both still have SPs I don't mind using an actual Gameboy I just want to know what I'm capable of with an emulator before we start games on it and can't do what we want to be able to do.
