would running the cia of catsfc on o3ds provide any significant speed boost?

currently using the 3dsx i'm getting 21 - 26 fps.
Are you using Ninjhax 2.1? Apparently Dynarec only works on ninjhax 1.1 or .cia. Haven't tested, but Aliaspider said CATSFC should be getting 40fps on O3DS.

Also, while I'm at it, is there any hope things like gpsp, catsfc and picodrive will ever run fullspeed on O3DS?

i read somewhere that the only thing actually utilizing dynarec is gba, so i don't know how or if it would affect the fps. if it really goes up to 40 by use of cia that's fast enough for me to finally play Seiken Densetsu 3 without pulling my hair out LOL.

I'm using tubehax 9.9 right now, but i'll be switching my motherboard out for a 9.2 one this evening and hopefully can go further than the wall i've currently reached.

N3DS: gpsp.cia build 16/09 22h39: 16/9 screen doesnt works. I desactivated the 2 options up of the select ratio option, put it on 16/9 again and it crashes.
Before that I launched a game that was 21fps on .3dsx from few builds ago at 60 fps!! Brutal! :D But it was on small video ratio.

Catsfc.cia: Fullspeed as expected. 16/9 works. After opening the menu of Retroarch, and gouing back to game sounds starts to crackle and framerate drop from 50 to 48 on secret of mana.

Genesis + GX .cia: Fullspeed as expected. Still small tearing issues on the very left of the screen (Just watch Ecco 1 introduction with the dolphin swimming). 16/9 works.

Gambatte.cia: Fullspeed as expected. Launching Little indian in city successfully, a game that was not working with another GB emulator (GameYob 3DS, the best so far). Not 16/9. Crackling sound sometimes, and after closing the N3DS the sounds is turning into something horrible.

Can somebody tell me how to set up a real fullscreen, please?
If I start playing games with the .cia on gpsp for example, I will be able to keep my saves with the next builds of Retroarch gpsp .cia? :)

Amazing job as always. fucking impressive.

In definitive for .cia: Besides no scaling on gambatte and gpsp, there is the fact that sound is crackling on gambatte and on every emulators when you close and open the 3ds

I can respect that they want to give us the bleeding edge when it comes to these builds, but it would be nice if they were numbered and/or organized into folders by date. That way, should there be multiple builds for the same day, we can go to the last working version in the event something breaks.

RetroArch 3DS hasn't been released, it's as simple as that, these are developer builds that people are free to use if they want.
We get a new build each 15 minutes if there are any updates, this is quite handy for us since otherwise we need to have every toolchain under the sun to be able to test stuff, and since there are so many codebases to mantain, knowing when builds fail is quite important for us.

BTW nothing 3ds specific has happened today, so even if there are builds every 2 minutes, nothing changes on your end, just rollback one day I guess if you think the latest build causes issues for you.

Quick question - why is the changelog all glitchy?
Code:
[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[A[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B[B
--------

idk, I was adding that because you (I think it was you at least) requested and I thought it was a good idea it but I haven't finished my script

While playing Gambatte, often the FPS falls to 58 and the audio stutters a bit. It's a Vsync issue I guess? It's not speed related for sure. Also, there's audio crackling sometimes, on speficic notes I think, because some games like Mario Tennis can cause earbleed. Then again, audio is a work in progress as stated before.

Have the CNub and ZL/ZR Buttons been Inputed yet? If there will be a N64 Core, those would be needed. Suggest Button Layout be as follows:
JoyStick/Directional Buttons: Joystick/Dir
N3DS: N64
B: A
Y: B
L/R: L/R
ZL: Z . If Duplication can be done, ZR can also be Z Button
CNub: C Buttons
For those who run MK4 and MKTrilogy, A and X on N3DS can also be C-R and C-Up.

I doubt an N64 core will be coming through Libretro at least. It would be based on Mupen64Plus which wouldn't run at remotely playable speeds.

I'm very interested in the cia dynarec and higher clockspeed. I guess it is only implemented on gPSP right now. Would be interesting to see how other platforms like NeoGeo, CPS2, n64 and ps1 would benefit from this though! :)

It's not necessarily the case that at all emulators would benefit.

This is an oversimplification, but dynarec (or dynamic recompliation) works by dynamically translating CPU calls of the emulated system into native CPU calls that the host system (the 3DS) can understand. This is much faster than interpreting every single instruction from the emulated CPU. However, depending on the CPU that you are trying to emulate, this may or may not be appropriate.

I'm very much looking forward to dynarec being added to more of these emulators. I do have quite a few games running well on my 3DSXL (Although lag seems to be the biggest issue, although the catsfc core seems to fail the SNES Service Cart test, that is, the APU test, while SNES9x passes it perfectly but is slow as fak), and it's compatible with a boatload of games too.
