Many updates for standalone emulators including...

Atari 2600
Game Boy / Color
Seper Nintendo
ZX Spectrum

Intellivision RA FreeIntv core was also added as a standalone. Forwarder channels are done and available for download. I did not test the vWii INTV channels so if you have issues, please post.

All my RA releases now have libretro_wii.dol and boot dol included. This has fixed issues where the forwarder channel would sometimes black screen and hang. It also fixes some emulator/cores not being able to boot more than 1 game per play session. :)

Another minor fix for RA-Frankenstein...

MAME 2003+ cores i have found now have issue keeping hi scores. I do not remember this ever being an issue but maybe i have forgotten and it always needed the work around.

Basically the MAME cores do not create the necessary folder(s) when launching any arcade core so hi scores can be saved. I created the string and added it to the Frankenstein pack, i also attached what is needed for quick install. Just extract and drop on the root of your SD/USB and overwrite.

SD:/retroarch/savefiles/mame2003-plus/hi ...is the string needed, something so simple but crucial and i am clueless why this happens.

Here you go.

Can you do a version of the standalone CPS2 core that supports SF3 mix? It's my preferred way of playing CPS2 games on the Wii

I think the only way it could be done is with the FBNeo core through Hexaeco. Unfortunately i tested both sfz3mix.zip and sfz3mix13.zip and both fail.

Maybe new RA CPS-2 cores support the game through Wii? I would have to test. If they do, it is likely a standalone could be done.

Hey everyone, updates are up.

RA-Modified pack has been removed and replaced by RA-Frankenstein. This RA emulator pack is a combination of older and newer cores with focus on compatibility and speed. I have tested and played thoroughly so there should not be any conflicts with the 80 cores included, if you experience issues, please post. It is not perfect but hopefully updated/better cores come along to replace the few that have sound issues or missing save/load states. Having this much emulation under one RA hood with focus on compatibility and speed, this is the best Wii option.

Credits go to: @Wiimpathy for his arcade cores, @SaulFabre and @ploggy for their compiled cores.

---

SS-Hexaeco Mod has a minor update as well. FBNEO has been added for a little bit extra compatibility (Carrier Air Wing/US Navy).

RA-Frankenstein CPS-2 core will play Armored Warriors with correct input @Ken-Hidaka or anyone else. Enjoy!

Edit:
One thing i forgot to include/mention!!!

If you save a game input remap configuration, the default location should be...
dev:/retroarch/remaps/core folder/game.rmp

If you cannot find your saved remap file, try looking in...
dev:/apps/retroarch-wii/core folder/game.rmp
OR
dev:/core folder/game.rmp

I think this is isolated to a few MAME 2003-Plus cores but wanted to give a heads up.

I have such a hard time finding out whether or not I can use USB controllers, such as the 8Bitdo SN30 or Retrofit USB Genesis controller mostly, with the different builds of RA. Heck, I can't even find for sure if the official build supports it. Does this (fork?) allow use of controllers such as these?

After some tests, I would like to know some things about RA Hexaeco & Frankenstein : Which romset should we use for ARCADE games (FBA/MAME) ? The romset I use for my other devices (3DS, WiiU, PC...) does not work well. Most games quit the emulator.

Is there any way to autoload a game for the Commodore 64 core ? Is there any virtual Keyboard ?

Thanks.

@9646gt
I believe the 8Bitdo controllers do work for both RA and Hexaeco, @Charco previously confirmed it working... As for the Retrofit USB Genesis, i cannot be certain if it is compatible, sorry.

@CrashMidnick
The MAME romset(s) are 2000 (37b) and 2003 Plus (078). The FBA romset is 0.2.97.29 but most FBA roms regardless of release should work if they are actually compatible. I'll PM you soon for help/support.

As for autoloading C64 games...it has been unsuccessfully attempted by myself among others. It is a very cumbersome emulator to navigate although it DOES work! Yes there is a Virtual Keyboad and it works but honestly this core should only be for show and not play. The C64.network.org Frodo core works very well and if used through WFL plugins, autoload is supported.

Hey all, I'm updating all the hacks on my Wii and am a bit confused on the latest cores for arcade (CPS1, CPS2, CSP3, Konami, Midway).

For most 8 and 16 bit games, I used the standalone emulators such as SNES9x RX or Genplus GX, etc.

However, I know most arcade emulators are split into separate cores due to the wii's limitations.

Can anyone let me know what pack of cores give the best performance? Would it be the SS-Hexaeco Mod (All-In-One) pack, and I just select the cores needed?

Always appreciate the help, thanks.

I would lean towards Hexaeco for CPS1 and CPS2 since the FBNeo cores add extra compatibility over vanilla RA (Frankenstein).

CPS3 performance is equal but Hexaeco offers bezel support.

Neo Geo Hexaeco gets the job done and has bezel support but RA Frankenstein Neo core does offer a little better compatibility.

Same thing for MAME 2003+, Hexaeco cores are solid but do have some issues with a few games not able to register credits (Journey is one) . RA MAME 2003+ cores are superior although do not offer bezel support.

I honestly use Hexaeco for everything and use RA Frankenstein for everything else Hexaeco doesn't support ...problem games, tg-cd, neo cd, 32x, amstrad, etc..

Thanks again for your reply and all the hard work on the forums.

I do see Hexaeco at the beginning of this thread, but would you have the link for the RA MAME 2003+ cores? Would they be contained in the Frankenstein zip?

Yes, Frankenstein has all the MAME 2003+ cores. The dl is a little heavy but it contains around 100 cores in the pack.

It's nice to have Hexaeco and Frankenstein both installed imo, best of both worlds. I made forwarder channels for both distribution packs in 3 different flavors...Dark, Gold and White if you are interested in those.

No.
Set Frameskip to 3-4 to have a somewhat fluid gameplay. It's okay, not good and much less perfect, but definitely playable.
I use a trick to run CPS3 games and some other games on the Wii without using frameskip. It's to go into HexaEco's Wii options and turn off Audio Sync in the audio option. This makes the game run very fast, even faster than normal, but there's no loss of animation frames. On the other hand, the sound is a bit off.

i think this also works on my builds of CPS3 with RA 1.7.6?

I swear it is. I'll be forced to use the official Retroarch cores when necessary due to the lack of compatibility with the Superrsonic cores, and I don't have much experience with that official Retroarch due to the difficulty in saving custom game configurations. But I think that trick works.

RA CPS3 runs at full speed on the Wii?
I didn't think so...but ...

Thank you for this info, i didn't know this was a thing!:)

It certainly does, just tested and running at 60 fps....dare i say it runs a touch better with your 1.7.6 recompile than the Hexaeco core, although the Hex core is pushing 57.6 fps and above.

This is beautiful news!!!

Good to hear CPS-3 runs fast

Are there any solutions for Gunlock (a.k.a. RayForce) on Mame 2003 plus core B? The framerate is low and unplayable. This is on RA-Frankenstein by the way.
Haven't tested recently but i'll give it a shot when i get some time.

I have it in the Frankenstein pack, although it has been hex modded.
