Sorry to ask this here, Ive googled, searched on gbatemp up to no avail. How do I set up MAME emulator through cia?

I've
- CFW (AuRei)
- Installed MAME 2003.

I want to play Metal Slug and/or other Neo Geo games, and mainly set up MAME for other games.

Ive put neogeo.zip (bios) on the cores/system folder and it still crashes. Gives me an error about samples.

Does anyone know how to make it work? Thanks

Offtopic EDIT: I just tested PocketSNES latest nightly on CIA. Runs everything perfect. Never thought I would get to play Uniracers on my n3ds.

Unlike the other cores which require the bios in the system folder, the Neo Geo core expects the neogeo.zip in the same folder as the roms.

edit: just saw that you might have meant running Neo Geo games in MAME instead of FBA Neo? Either way, the neogeo.zip should be with the game roms.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I meant what you said in your edit. I can play Neo Geo games with the FB Alpha Neo Geo core in CIA perfectly, just played Metal Slug. But I'd like to set up MAME.

But...Ive read that FB Alpha is a "kinda MAME" so, if I can set up that, I'll be fine.

EDIT: I set up FB Alpha, tried to play Sunset Riders, and its very slow :(

Do CIAs work better on the Old 3DS than 3dsx files? Because the original post claims the Genesis emulator runs at full speed on the Old 3DS... the 3dsx file most certainly does NOT.

You'll see a slight improvement if the emulator uses Dynarec (gpsp, pcsx, picodrive)

Id thought I'd report in I updated today to the labeled 3/4/2016 nightly from the 1/17 stable. No problems so far Switching games, but I only updated picodrive and pcsx rearmed.

And with no sound, frameskip 1, and no frame duping( seems to smooth it) I'm getting at least 40 and hitting 50 in crash bandicoot. A bit faster than 1/17.

Still crashing on Polygonal Sega 32x games I made a video of that too where it crashes in the middle of a fight. While non polygonal seem fine.

Is it possible to use frameskip on gambatte?? I'm use cia Version on o3ds and only get 50fps on Pokemon Yellow, thought that could Speed Things up a bit ;)

Related to this, is there any chance that DosBox could be correctly named rather than generically being named 'Retroarch 3DS'? :)

Reformatting the 'Pocket Snes' name to PocketSNES' would be nice, too!

The moment when PSX games run better than Virtual Boy on the N3DS. xD
