Hacking Retaining Retail saves

I've been reading the forums and have seen all the steps to do this but not in the same place and wanted to know if it would work. So I have a retail version of Alpha Sapphire and want to keep my save. If I use gateway to dump the game I would get a .3dz with my save in it correct? And then is it possible for me to convert the game to .cia and retain my save? Thanks for your help

Quite often I hear that the dump always claims the save to be corrupt.

However, I recently read somewhere that if you use savedatafiler to extract the "corrupt" save, then delete the save on the ROM, start a new game and save and THEN inject your old "corrupted" save back in, that it will work.

Mind you, this will only work for card2 games. card1 behaves entirely different.
