I have just bought a retail mario galaxy 2 and just wanted to know if it was possible to play it on my soft modded wii without my homebrew being uninstalled.

Yes, but to be on the safe side you should patch your wii with priiloader 3.0 and put on some system hacks.

Download priiloader, put it in the SD card.
Create the hacks.ini (tutorial on wiibrew.org)
Turn on no disc update, to make sure NOBODY updates your wii (no matter what version you have, I heard it won't be too long untill nintendo blocks ANY mods).

Turn on some more hacks if you want to, but not needed.

Priiloader is a good call, with updates blocked, but you probably will have to update IOS56 to v5604 (or that may be wrong, it's whatever the latest with NUSD is).

That's what I have running and it works great.

Good game too, they removed a lot of my annoyances from the first one (which I also loved).
