So yeah I got the savefile from here: https://projectpokemon.org/home/fil...542-multi-gen-saves-with-every-legal-species/

Using PKM Shield game. Updated to 1.2.0.and DLC installed.

Used checkpoint to restore a save (not in applet mode) it says succesfull. But when booting the game the savefile is still the old one where I just started out.

I don't use emunand or anything the like. Only atmosphere 10.0.3/AMS 0.12.0/S wit fusee primary. What is going on here???

Also I just tried the exact same thing with JKSV. Same result

It always says something like restore succesfull but ingame nothing changes...

Could it be that this game has different versions (US/EU)? Does the game icon show appear twice in Checkpoint (carefully check next/previous pages)? If so, you may have restored the save for the version which you have not installed.

Use jksv , it's way better than checkpoint imo :yay:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/jksv-save-manager-for-switch.516186/

Your issue is weird if this happens both in jksv and checkpoint.

You probably do something wrong in the process

Agrees.. is easier and always makes backups.

I tried both JKSV and Checkpoint. Same result it reverts back to a backup save...

I know how these tools work since I used JKSV before to restore a BCAT file and so on.

So there must be something wrong configuration wise.

Ok this conludes it
I just saved my own game in 2 different palces
backed those 2 up
then restored the complete savefile from the website
it reverts back to an earlier save
BUT if I restore my own savefiles it works fine. Both back in those 2 places.
SO there is just something horribly wrong with the savefile on the site.

Gen 8 - SWSH Project 542 1.2.0.main

"- If you're importing into a Switch game, the save must be named main (with no extension)"

did you follow this instruction?
(default file download name is : "Gen 8 - SWSH Project 542 1.2.0.main")

Yes I renamed it to main without an extension.

If Checkpoint is not producing an error and/or crashing, there's only one of three things happening:
  1. You do not have a save file started in Sword & Shield on your profile. (For some reason: Checkpoint is unable to Restore the save when there's no save in memory to overwrite.)
  2. You are using multiple Switch user accounts and you are not restoring the save in Checkpoint to the correct user profile. (Checkpoint defaults to oldest user profile on the system so if you are using a newer one, you will have to change user profiles within the Checkpoint app. Furthermore, if you have multiple accounts and have the Switch set to default to one profile that might be causing the same issue.)
  3. One of the save files is missing. (Checkpoint uses two files for back-up. A "backup" & a "main" file. The app requires both from my experience to be able to Restore the save. While emulators only require the "main", Checkpoint requires both. I have checked the files in PKHeX... they are literally identical so I don't understand why it creates the two files.)
