Nah, since my original post was to get rid of the few CIOS I have, I dont think I want anymore I might try this as the alternative to CIOSCORP for Disc Channel Backup Loading.

Also, I've noticed just now that my Retail NTSC Smash Bros. Brawl no longer works in my Gamma Channel and rebooter just hangs on a black screen??
I'm on a PAL Wii 3.4E. I was in the mood to play Brawl

I'm pretty sure this is due to preloader (if you have that on your wii). It stops rebooters from working.

FYI i have been running the cioscorp pack since the idea was first released. I have installed it over 30 times now without a single issue. I have also updated from 3.2 to 3.3 and 3.4 without a single issue. There are now hundreds of people using it without a single brick (if you don't count the old horrid guide that guy put up) Right now it is no more dangerous than any other wad install, especially if you install preloader before the altered IOS, with the exception of CIOS30, which is only a danger if your power goes out during install of it. The only possible future danger will be when update 3.5 comes out, and all homebrew at that point will be just as likely to brick as this, seeing as how N updates so far simply Overwrite IOS not patch them, i don't see nintendo changing this behavior anytime soon. If you don't mess around with stuff or update when 3.5 comes out (before its been tested) then everything will be fine. As far as FAKE ios crap.. uhm they are the original IOS just with the dip added in. Also the compatibility is Higher than that with gamma as the games now access their official ios and are not forced to use 249. I respect you for your contributions to the scene DJ and know your being helpful, but just because you prefer modchips doesnt mean you need to keep trying to scare everyone else away from softmodding. Yes modchips have a few major advantages still, i don't dispute that, but it seems like here lately you just tell everyone with a problem to get a mod chip.

I dont have preloader installed, last Backup Loader installation I did I followed djtaz's Tutorial except I didnt downgrade to 3.2, I stayed on 3.4

did you re-enable trucha bug and such? Oh and if you want menu loading without preloader just use wanins menu patcher or gammas rebooter.

I'm guessing I didnt, cos I'm not sure what that is. I did everything in djtaz's guide, except I skipped the CIOS Downgrader step.

You mentioned the horrid guide for CIOSCORP, is this the guide you meant? Is there a better/easier guide? Does it matter what Wii System Version your on for CIOSCORP?

check out the riskiwii thread (Which really needs to be renamed as the risks are now about equal to any other wad installs) it has info to get you on 3.2 with region free disc loading in the disc channel from power on, without running anything each boot

I really should check links. no that guide works great. it was a guide made by some davi something or other which didnt give any real details about what to and not to do, just said use this program to do this use that to do that, etc.

Ok, thanks. Just to clarify, I have to downgrade to 3.2 for RiiskiMod? It doesnt work on 3.4?

OK, so i've done the RiiskiMod and my backups & retail games are all loading from Disc Channel. HOWEVER, my Retail NTSC Smash Bros. Brawl, still has problems. It stays on the 'Now Loading...' screen for a while, then gives me a disc error message.

Whats going on?

EDIT: It does boot ok, using a Gamma Loader

running various tests and upgrade checks. i was the guinea pig on this one. So i've been making sure an install isn't going to cause any problems regardless of where you are when you start the install.

I have successfully installed RiiSkiMod, everything went smoothly, but as I mentioned few hours ago, My Retail NTSC Smash Bros. doesnt work via Disc Channel. Is it because its a dual-layer disk?

If your retail SSBB doesn't work its a drive or disc issue. The CIOS does not affect loading of regular games. they are still using all the original N code.
Also nintendo has been repairing out of warranty consoles for this issue as it was there from the factory.

It does work if I use my Gamma Loader and boot it as if it was a backup, I guess I'll just keep Gamma for that one game. Or I might download the PAL version, does it make a difference if I get the DVD5 or DVD9 versions?
