Soo I take it this game will retain the same terribly dated controls? Push up to move forward push down to move back and the side buttons to move the character in a ridiculous circle?

But nobody has asked the most important question ...will the tank controls stay?
I would assume "yes", introducing a new set of controls when the camera is pretty much static could be... confusing, to say the least. Then again, they could include two control schemes, really. I rarely had any issues with the old one though, it suited the game just fine since the perspective was fixed.

I don't think changing the way you move the char, even with fixed cameras would be a problem at all. But really, I'm not against tank controls ...they are good enough to me and also never had any issues with it. I even like them! (hope it's not a gamer's sacrilege  )

I think it might get confusing in some situations. Remember that in Resident Evil the perspective changes radically when you move from one screen to the next, so it's just easier to assume that "up" means "forward" for the character - that way the character doesn't go pants-on-head-retarded when you enter a new area.

Of course you could implement a 360 degrees control scheme and have each screen "react" to the analog stick differently, but I have a weird feeling that it'd be a bit clunky if not done right.

The best of both worlds would be to assume that all the directions of the analog stick correspond to directions from the character's perspective in general, meaning "up" is still "forwards", but "left" means "left" rather than "turn left" etc.

Yeah ..some Silent Hill games, like The Room, that lost the tank controls felt weird to some people due to that kind of issue. But I didn't mind the change that much myself. And yeah, tank controls would be a more optimized option for the rapid perspective changes.

I always thought tank controls added to the game/genre because the clunky navigating made for some great contextual panic moments, that incidentally work well on a survival horror game.

Analog control would mean absolutely free zombie dribbling in every situation.

Or maybe I just grew up with it and found an excuse to like them.

Yeah, same.

If you take away tank controls you're pretty much taking a component from survival horror, same with the fixed view areas.

I love this, this is great! :D i never played the whole RE1. And this could be a new experience :)

Cool.... i only wish for new Metroid game on 3DS :( Metroid other M remake maybe... i mean since they are not making new one i can satisfy my self with remaked one.

I'll buy it for 360. Or maybe PC. I first played the game properly on the DS and loved it, and wanted to play the remastered version on the wii but couldn't find the warez and didn't have the money at the time.

Surely they need to release 2 and 3 now??

im hyped ! never played any of the games i love the movies though (DON'T JUDGE ME!)

Maybe they could add something like the First Person controls from the RE2 N64 port to this one, that way the "tank" controls would be optional for newcomers.

I've played RE from 1 to 3, and RE 1 was the only with some difficult to beat.

But I have it on my Vita already, so I'm skipping this one...

You don't have Re REmake on you're Vita lol.... You have the original ps1 game which is completely different and frankly not anywhere near as good.

I said it once and I'll say it again - if the Wii U released with Mario Kart 8, the new Zelda Wii U, Smash Bros., Pokemon Stadium 3, Metroid Prime 4, the new Starfox and Super Mario World 3D (meaning a little bit for everyone), the fans would have to buy it Day 2 because on Day 1 they'd all just have a collective seizure due to sensory overload.

Forgive the pedantry, but I think that would have been a terrible move. There are a lot of people out there that would want every single one of those games but not really have the money to buy them all in one go, and by the time the next pay day comes something else has already been hyped enough to push the ones you didn't buy a little further down the priority list. It's the same reason no other company release their AAA titles simultaneously. Of course, your point still stands (hence the pedantic nature of what I just said), if those games were staggered to arrive on shelves during the console's launch window, the console would surely have been more successful. Instead, Nintendo thought an "Old" Super Mario Bros game and a handful of party games would be enough.

As for the topic at hand, RE:Make still plays pretty well on the Gamecube, so I'll probably give RE:Master a miss. To be honest, I'm kind of feeling like I've outgrown the series since they fucked it up anyway.
