The much-anticipated remake for Resident Evil 4 launches today. For the occasion, Capcom aired a launch trailer:

Resident Evil 4 joins Leon S. Kennedy six years after his hellish experiences in the biological disaster of Raccoon City. His unmatched resolve caused him to be recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president of the United States. With the experience of multiple missions under his belt, Leon is dispatched to rescue the president’s recently kidnapped daughter, Ashley Graham. Leon tracks her to a secluded European village, however after making first contact, he discovers a fervor beyond reason that grips the local populace.

Resident Evil 4 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. “The Mercenaries” challenge mode will be available as a free post-launch DLC on April 7th, while the VR mode is in development.

Waiting to watch digital foundry's final analysis. My pc's gpu is at this point less powerful than my PS5 or Series X, so I'll be grabbing one of those versions. Thing is, with the demo the PS5 version had a much softer image but the Series X version had terrible issues with the controls. One or the other needs fixing before I make a purchase. If both have been fixed, Ill go with PS5 for the DualSense integration, even if that integration is minor. If PS5 image remains the same but Xbox controls have been fixed, I'll go with Xbox.

I tried the demo with a 13600k/1080 Ti and couldn't go past 70 FPS on low settings at 1440p. I wasn't super happy with the performance.

Really? I'm getting 65-85 FPS at mostly high settings on an R5 3600/1080 Ti. At least in the full game, didn't get around to checking in the demo.

Haven't tried the main game yet myself. It might run better. Is that at 1440p?
Yeah at 1440p. Gone are the days when we can expect 100+ FPS from this card in new AAA games, sadly, but RE Engine games usually perform pretty well. Relatively speaking.

It's a demo...
You wouldn't think that would make much difference since the demo is just the opening segment of the game and it dropped like four days before release. Who knows though, maybe they finished the demo way before the full game went gold.

3090/5800x3d. Getting about 95 fps average with rtx on and high settings. Resident evil games are really fucking well optimized. On top of that, game is pretty damn fun too. Props to capcom for making a game worth my 60 bucks (minus cdkeys discount lol)

Capcom is releasing Seperate Ways as DLC so i will wait for the remake to go on sale. Price is too much for a remake and splitting a portion as a DLC adding to that price tag is a bit on the greedy side.

Great game but the remake is a bit dry with it’s humor, not so much animated in the acting department ( Reimagining this B movie game into an exclusively serious direction just feels odd idk how to explain it) and the voice acting is lack luster but Honestly beyond that everything else is A1.

Gotta go through another play through because I didn’t do that many suplexes idk if it was just me or the game, I got more kicks in than anything lol.

I played on the Xbox with the huge dead zone problem, luckily I got it somewhat in an acceptable state by reducing it 10% from 35% to 25% by having an Elite Series 2 controller.

Solid entry I’ll give it an 8.5 out of 10
