any possibility of using encryption? And if you guys are concerned with privacy add a huge warning about not sharing private information. Go only by pseudo names etc.

So here is another idea: with themehax, can we have a sort of homebrew process that run in background, and then send notifications?
;)
Good idea! We can then get a error while ton of programs are running in the background trying to overpower the CPU and then crash and maybe even brick the 3ds causing the possibility to have 3ds viruses and then have less homebrew user who could've been a great help!

What a great idea!

Because a messaging program is so horrendously resource intensive.

Ask Yellows8 about how notifications can be used. He has worked with them quite a bit and at one time created an exploit that used the notification system. He is the one that would know if this is possible. And a background service wouldn't work. It's too unstable. But what about spotpass notifications?

Yeah and I trust my 3ds chat application for doing drug deals. As much as I would like to worry about someone hosting a chat server, what are we sending on there anyway? Memes?

Also about the P2P 3ds idea, it could be feasible but really a simple client-server scenario would be easier to set up and organize.
Security is security. Whether people are talking about puppies or selling drugs is irrelevant, and it should be entirely private regardless. Though you seem to share the logic of those that believe that people who want privacy have something illegal to hide, and if not, then they shouldn't be concerned with privacy at all. This is incredibly flawed logic.

Yeah. Sure. Because this totally prevents private information from leaking out.

I meant as in end to end encryption like how kik and many other messaging apps work. The server is only used to forward the message and cannot read them.

EDIT: I found an open source messaging service that uses end to end encryption called surespot. The code could possibly be used to help design this program.

Still don't see any point in a big security for a app like that.
Some simple encryption is enough.

-----
() => Encrypted
Also think of a package why. [From][To][(Message)] is to obvios and easy to redirect via mitm. Encrypt From / To? Ouhh.. server need to have this informations to transfer it to the right person. Use another Encryption for it! Yep. Got 2 encryption where 1 have to handled by the Server and need in a extra place... BUT.. you know on which point it it since it would always have same length. Or just a little bit different.
You see, encryption is not easy to think trough and if someone want to read your messages, he will find a way. Sure we could start using private / public keys.. but really? Please dont forget why the Nintendo Message app got closed.

ohh, and Joom, for the mask think.. i liked v for vendetta. Get me a Deadpool mask, and i make a pic with it instead of the vendetta mask. :)

Edit: Don't get me wrong, i'm not against security!
