I get the error message wstrt.exe not found with the description" _memcpy_chk wasn't found in dll" when I try to include a .gct file.

Okay so I have looked everywhere and I have only found one other person who had this problem.
After successfully installing a GameCube inject and booting up the game from the Wii U home menu, I am greeted with a black screen for several seconds followed by some kind of green glitches at the bottom of the screen. After that, this image pops up with the text, “No game.iso on Wii VC Disc!” Does anyone know what this is caused by or what I could have done to cause it? I used to have tiramisu but I switched to aroma, still I’m unsure how that could be causing any problems. I’m out of options, can anyone help?

According to google, this can happen if your computer blocks the dll. If you look in the tool folder, you can see that dll in there just fine. I'm not sure how to fix this since it's a per computer situation.
Thanks for the update and happy birthday!
Hahahaha, ty.
I found a bug in UWUVCI... The disable trim checkbox has no effect. The Wii game still gets trimmed.
Are you sure? If you used a file that was already trimmed, then it would be trimmed. So, if you are not using an ISO that's about 4.5GB then that means what you're using is already trimmed.

I've been investigating this, but I'm not having that problem on my machine. I think it might be a homebrew thing you have, maybe it's an ISFHax or maybe it's an SDUSB thing or something, I'm really not sure.

100% sure. My 4.5 GB iso came out as 428 MB (Paper Mario PAL test)

I'll look into this. I changed a decent amount under Wii, and I may have accidentally removed that check. I know I checked with ISO's, but I probably never looked at the file size. Thank you.

Update: 3/21/2025
Don't want to double-post so appending it here.

There have been two updates bringing us from 3.Z-B to 3.Z-B2 it fixes the "???" problems, the "no game.iso", the trimming issue, and the "dll" problems people have seen.

I had the same problem with the new version you released previously. The solution was to delete uwuvci and do a clean install as previously I always installed uwuvci over the older versions which seemed to cause some problems

Ah, I see. Yeah, UWUVCI was never meant to be "install over old version" it's meant to be uninstalled first, and then reinstalled. But I'm glad you got it situated.

News Update:
V3 and V4 development is currently on indefinite hiatus.

Likewise, even the older versions of the app worked totally fine for me. Granted, I've only converted a couple of Wii titles and nothing else. Thanks for all the work you've done until this moment, made our lives much easier. ^^ Sucks that people to this day are harassing the developers that make stuff free for everyone to use. :/

Its development started back in 2020.

Yeah, I was hoping to get something for all of the work I've put into this because it's something like >600 hours, and instead, everything I got wasn't what I was hoping for, ya know? Figured, I might have had more people check out some of my other projects, or donate money (as a team, we get about $15/yr from donations, which doesn't even cover the maintenance fees for UWUVCI). So, eventually, you have to decide if it's worth doing anymore.

Hi all.

I'm getting an error where installed games end up with "???" on the Wii U menu screen. Uninstalled the games and downgraded to UWUVCI version 3.Z-Again as instructed in the Discord server, but with this version I get missing .dll errors:

cygncursesw-10.dll
cygcrypto-1.1.dll

Following the support thread for this on Discord points to installing the latest version of UWUVCI, and so the cycle repeats.

Anyone know a fix/workaround for this?

It's because you didn't uninstall UWUVCI V3.Z-B, and instead just installed V3.Z-Again ontop of it. Go to the gear icon and click "Update Tools" that will fix the problem. This fix is mentioned all over the Discord.

I actually did uninstall v3.Z-B because I happened to read a support post instructing the user to first uninstall one version before installing another. I used the "unins000" app and, as far as I could tell, it removed the entire program and all associated files.

Updating tools unfortunately didn't work. I'm still getting the missing .dll error messages. I appreciate the suggestion though, it was worth a try. Do you happen to have copies of these .dlls that I can drop into the UWUVCI directory?

Incidentally, the fact the the fix is mentioned "all over Discord" indicates that many people don't expect to have to manually uninstall one version to install another. Unless it's a portable app, the program should perform the uninstall itself when installing a different version, especially if the program requires this action to have been performed in order to work. This is how 90% of programs operate; users are not wrong to expect this.

EDIT: Managed to find the .dlls online. Now get a different error: "wit.exe was unable to start correctly."

In the installer for V3.Z-B, it says it is going to uninstall the old version, and it runs the uninstall exe for you. What I found out people were doing, though is keeping the old program open, so it wasn't wiping everything out, making it so the installer was silently failing. I understand that the expectation would be that this would work like other programs, but this is some freeware that generates no money. if you wanted an installer that worked like others, then we would need $$ to pay for it.

As for you "finding the dll's online" it's impossible since about half of those dll's I compile myself, to say, which is why the wit.exe could not start correctly. I found out that people are having their Windows Defender get in the way, so I had to write the installer to mark all of those items as being safe (this wouldn't be the case if we had $$$ to pay for things like a CA). I recommend you go download the new installer for UWUVCI V3.Z-B2 and it should work.

The "???" problem seems to be that the program isn't correctly resetting itself after Wii (or GCN, maybe both, idr), so to make sure it's always clean, you would want to close the program and re-open it.

Now going back to the DLL problem for UWUVCI V3.Z-Again, I don't have them, I didn't exactly plan for people to roll back, so there is a mismatch between Z-Again wanting WIT's version from 5 years ago as the 32-bit version.
