Well the dsiware file itself is the same between AUS and EUR so the exploit will works but the firmware files (launcher, whitelist, etc) are differents. So be careful : do not try to downgrade an AUS DSI with EUR firmware files. If you do that you brick.

And just to add on to this, always test your nand in No$GBA before flashing

Can you not link this stuff. It's illegal and dangerous.

People should not be modifying their NAND to play "backups", they WILL brick if they keep doing it.

    Are you taking the piss?
I bought over 20 DSiWare apps on my 3DS that I'd love to play at original resolution on original hardware.
    How is that illegal?

Also, if you know what you're doing, it's not dangerous to modify your NAND.

Unfortunately, regardless of what you may think, the law says it's illegal. In any case this ill conceived guide site links directly to illegal content.

It's always dangerous to modify your NAND. You can reduce the risk but ultimately if you keep doing it you will brick.

Show me the exact clause in the DMCA where it states that making a single backup for personal use is illegal.

Nope, that applies to the people developing a device that circumvents copy protection, but nice try, at least you bothered to search.
Also, see clause F, section 1: "a person who has lawfully obtained the right to use a copy of a computer program may circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a particular portion of that program for the sole purpose of identifying and analyzing those elements of the program that are necessary to achieve interoperability of an independently created computer program with other programs, and that have not previously been readily available to the person engaging in the circumvention, to the extent any such acts of identification and analysis do not constitute infringement under this title."

EDIT: Oh yeah, not to mention that I only need to worry about Australian law anyway, which states that everyone is allowed to make a personal backup copy of any copyrighted work.

Please note nothing in there mentions "backups for personal use" - This is entirely related to research purposes.

Whether or not you agree with the law is irrelevant, telling people things are legal when they're not is blatantly irresponsible. Whether or not people break the law is up to them but they should be able to make a fully informed choice.

Perhaps you should examine section (ii) Technological Protection Measures (Part V Division 2A and Subdivision E) of The Copyright Amendment Act 2006.

You should also be aware that activity on the internet is largely subject to american law and most countries who wish to trade with the US make sure to have broadly similar legislation to the DMCA.

Both articles you shared refer to DRM.
I want to see one about backups, not breaking copyright protection measures.

You can't make backups on most recent systems without breaking copyright protection measures. That's kind of the issue.

Game consoles are also specifically excluded from the DMCA exemptions that allow phone jailbreaking due to evidence demonstrating that jailbreaking of video game consoles is closely associated with video game piracy.

You forget this is GBATemp. The community that would literally jump through hoops to justify how using freeShop to pirate games ISN'T piracy. 3DS.Guide has plenty of CTRTransfers and other copyrighted content and they still defend it.

Wait guys so when/if ugopwn gets released for EUR, will it be okay to install sudoku for SRLoader on an AUS DSi? The titleids are the same I think for EUR and AUS but they are separate regions...

Freeshop technically isn't piracy unless you add title keys for games you haven't purchased.
Unfortunately, since that was the "developer's" (COUGH pedo COUGH) original intention, yeah, it was designed for piracy in mind.
In fact, I'm not even gonna defend freeshop, it's blatantly a piracy-focused tool.

P.S. Note to all freeshop forkers: if you don't want it to be considered a piracy-focused tool, remove the "auto-update keys from URL" option.

LOL YEAH I love it when people defend Freeshop isn't a piracy tool. It's designed to be one and I love it.
If legal action was to be taken then:
    1) Look at the name FREEshop
    2) What's its intended purpose? (C'mon seriously)
    3) What has this app allowed virtually all people who installed it to do?
    4) Why is there an option to auto update title keys? Wouldn't you manually updated it for games that you own? Why can you update it from a remote server?

Law takes into account 'actus rea' (guilty actions) and 'mens rea' (guilty mind aka guilty intentions); this is like the biggest mens rea offense.

Undoubtedly this is the biggest piracy tool taking a piss at Nintendo's shit system of having local tickets lmao.

Disclaimer: I love freeshop and oh definitely don't use it for piracy ;) ;)

1- The Free on FreeShop can also be read as in open-source, because it's an open source e-shop clone
2- The intended use of FreeShop is to download titles you legally own via an encrypted titlekeys file, which you would have to dump yourself from your console
3- Refer to 2, also if you use another encrypted titlekeys file wich is not from your console you can pirate games, but this is discouraged
4- You know some people like to put files on some online services such as a personal NAS? Yes? Then that's one usage of that option

Is there a planned release schedule for the 1-paste version of Ugopwn, or are there still bugs that need to be ironed out first?
