Glad you got it working, and I completely empathize with the intensity that is back pain. It's a motivation killer, like all pain- but one that makes you not even want to move.
If you do need any more help, I'll also offer my advice. I've only hacked two devices, just last night.. but I read pretty much everything there is to read about it, so I should be able to help fix any common or uncommon errors.
You're a good dad for doing this for your son, hope he appreciates it.
