Could you please post what you get on the terminal when trying to open It using Java -jar file.jar?

name@name ~ $ Java -jar SocketPunch.jar
No command 'Java' found, did you mean:
Command 'java' from package 'openjdk-7-jre-headless' (main)
Command 'java' from package 'openjdk-6-jre-headless' (universe)
Command 'java' from package 'default-jre' (main)
Command 'java' from package 'gcj-4.8-jre-headless' (main)
Command 'java' from package 'gcj-4.6-jre-headless' (universe)

What does java -version return? @jimmyleen

Maybe you didn't change your JAVA_HOME variable properly.

java -version
java version "1.8.0_77"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_77-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.77-b03, mixed mode)

Edit: *facepalm* Linux can't put java in the correct directory without the user? That makes no sense

If java -version already returns the correct version, the JAVA path should already be set correctly shouldn't it?

Oh. It's because I told you accidentally to type Java the first time, not java. Try again using java -jar SocketPunch.jar, and please post your results.

sudo java -jar SocketPunch.jar
[sudo] password for name:
Error: Unable to access jarfile SocketPunch.jar

I know sudo is for root access, but, have you tried changing the file to some other directory and try opening it from there?

There you said sudo action, with your action being the file path.

Try doing that, using the absolute path, but put java -jar in the middle:

sudo java -jar '/home/name/Downloads/SocketPunch.jar'

I'm going to try filezilla
Alright, it's okay. Wouldn't you please help me though?

I don't have a Linux distro right now for testing, but some people reported Mint was working alright (and it's directly based upon Ubuntu). I just want to know if there's a problem specificly with Ubuntu, couldn't you just try that last one command, please?

If not, it's okay, thanks for your help so far.

Edit: Even if I ran it in elevated privileges it would not make a difference

Alright, and just to be sure, I suppose the app doesn't open, right?

Thanks! I'll need to get myself some partitions for testing on Mint and Ubuntu.

No it won't open, and just so you know if socketpunch does work on ubuntu I doubt it will work on linux mint. After all linux mint structuring is not as functional as ubuntu ;)

Well, I just got three people saying it worked alright on Mint.

I guess some people simply like to lie, even on technical stuff. Sigh...

Well, thanks.

I don't think they lied I just think they found a way to run the program on mint.
Alright, thanks for your help!

I'll need several partitions for at least three different Linux distros for testing it myself.

I can't get a Mac, so I won't test on it, sadly.

I just bricked one of my N3DS XL because of trying to downgrade get the OTP for arm9loaderhax. How this happened, doesn't matter, it was an error from my part. I'll try a hardmod later, but I'm more a software man, so maybe I could need to ask help to a friend.

Anyway, the point is I wanted to test SocketPunch and FBI on Updated Sysnand using AuReiNand on arm9loaderhax, since there seemed to be problems when using it in that kind of setup, and I didn't have any arm9loaderhax hacked console.

Would someone be willing to tell me about their experience when using SocketPunch with an arm9loaderhax installed console? Just try the latest version with wjchen's FBI build (as explained in the OP), install some CIA files, and please tell me if you get any issue.

There's a common issue that happen too in normal CFW: it freezes while transferring because of network timeouts. If you get some other problem than this one, please comment about it.

Thanks everyone!
